Over the last year, Lion Forge comics has released a digital comic based on Knight Rider.
Written by television scribe Geoff Thorne (Law and Order, Ben 10) with explosive artwork from Jason Johnson (Generation X, The Flash, Wetworks), the graphic novel is a modern-day reboot but with all the important pieces intact.

The trade paperback is labeled as Vol 1, which contains eight of the previously released series. Here is hoping there will be enough issues for a Vol 2!

Michael Knight and KITT – everyone’s ultimate dream car – return to action in this high-octane thriller, updated with tomorrow’s tech to combat the threats of today. Secret agent Michael Knight just wants to take his girlfriend Katherine out for a night on the town. The bad news is that Katherine is also a brilliant scientist whom he’s been assigned to protect, along with her top-secret “Project: Rider” – not a good combination for a romantic evening! When a team of mercenaries crashes their date, it’s up to Michael and the mysterious Bishop to keep Katherine safe and the project under wraps. What follows is a high-speed race through the streets and mountains of California in which loyalties are tested, alliances betrayed, and a global conspiracy is revealed. And, of course, at least one incredible talking car! All the turbo-charged thrill of the classic TV series is back in this high-tech spy-fi adventure!

Available for $14.99 from your local comic shop or Amazon.com.

Be sure to check back soon as we'll be announcing a giveaway for autographed copies!

Be sure to remember to stop by your local Hallmark Gold Crown store this weekend for the 2013 Ornament Premiere where you can pick up your very own "KITT" ornament. KITT has the traditional bells and whistles - being battery operated and featuring scanner light effect and spoken phrases. Retails for $19.99.

We were able to get a sneak peak today at the packaging - hopefully this will hold you over until Saturday. And while we wouldn't describe KITT in exactly the same way (where is the turbo-boost?) we think it's a rad enough edition to our collection to overlook the oversight.

The Hot Wheels Elite team is getting close to releasing both their 1:18 and 1:43 die-cast models. As we've shown you previously this highly detailed model is going to be many fans lusted over product. You'll have to wait till February to get your hands on one, but in the mean time enjoy these images of the final models!

Knight Rider Historian Joe Huth is out with another great book that takes a look at the original series of Knight Rider from a fresh perspective. In Knight Rider: 30 Years of a Lone Crusader and His Talking Car, Joe Huth and co-author David Bronstein performed over 60 brand new interviews with the cast and crew, giving an insiders look at the behind the scenes of the popular 80s show over the course of 520 pages!

We took the opportunity to ask Joe some questions about the book and his Knight Rider passion, continue to read our Q&A:

Diamond Select Toys is getting very close to releasing their 1:15 scale KITT model, complete with light effects and working sounds! Similar to the very popular Kenner model of yore, this KITT plays through several pre-recorded phrases (activated by pressing the gas tank door, and not the license plate), but DST really steps it up by adding a working scanner and lights and sounds to the presentation. This looks to be a great product for the collector and kid alike. They'll be releasing a KITT only model this year, with a KITT and Michael variant in January.

Check out the video below for a demo on the lights and sounds, as well as their press release after the jump!

Late last year, we told you about the Minimates Knight Rider line, which has since seen the release of SPM KITT and Michael as well as KARR and Garthe. There was a third model that was also to be released around the same time, but was delayed until recently.

In the last few weeks, we've been able to see this item available in our local stores and on their website. For only $9.99 you get KITT in his memorable mode, with Michael Knight in his classic red shirt and jeans outfit. A really great line of products by the Diamond Select team!

You can order yours now at toysrus.com or by visiting your local Toys "R" Us and asking for it by name.

Diamond Select's 1:15 scale KITT is also still available for pre-order with the KITT only version due for release this October.

We were recently lucky to catch up with the team behind the upcoming 1/18 diecast of KITT, from Hot Wheels Elite! They say KITT is doing well, and provided us these images of the latest KITT tooling model that they just received from their engineers. Note that these images aren't a final product, but rather a work in progress as they constantly refine to get a perfect accurate model.

And if that wasn't exciting enough, they've also shared a recent video of the scanner light in progress! This is just one of the many features this product will have in addition to:

  • Working LED scanner
  • Pop up headlights
  • Opening doors
  • Opening engine hood- reveals the "Knight Industries turbo jet engine with modified afterburners"
  • Lift up, and removable T-tops
  • Ejector driver and passenger seats
  • Fold down rear seat
  • Opening rear hatch
  • Rotating license plate function to reveal alternate plate
  • Working steering
  • Underside chassis details include Rocket Boosters, Smoke screen, flame thrower, and grappling hookr, and grappling hook

Pretty beautiful stuff so far, can't wait to see how it turns out! It's currently scheduled for release in the last quarter of 2012.

KITT_Plate1.jpg

The first officially licensed replica "KNIGHT" plate, is now available from Diamond Select Toys! Printed on sheet metal, and then pressed to achieve the classic plate feel - it's the perfect signature piece for either the Knight Rider Festival coming up in May or the Southern Knights Atlanta in July. Retails for $35.

This is the third product release this year, they also do the Minimates line which we reviewed back in Janurary. Coming in May is the release of the Toys R Us version of the Minimates KITT (with red shirt Michael and classic KITT mode). And be sure to be on the look out in Previews for the latest on the electronic KITT, with retailer exclusive version.

Toy Fair 2012 is going on this week in New York City, and Diamond Select Toys - the company behind the awesome Minimates - took the opportunity to show an updated 1:15 KITT and SPM KITT. With the press portion beginning today, we are beginning to see some photos of their booth containing these models.

These aren't the final models, so obvious defects remain - however they are more further along than what we were last seen at SDCC. Also check out the license plates for KARR and KITT, a nice collectable for many fans. Enjoy!

It had been rumored for more than a year that Hot Wheels would be doing the Elite treatment for Knight Rider. Today we have our first official confirmation from the Nuremberg Toy Fair that things are moving along nicely, with a hopeful 2012 release.

It started with the HotwheelsElite twitter account teasing us with a view of a tall poster with Michael Knight and the phrase "Nobody Tells Me What To Do. Except My Car." with two display cases with silver KITTs inside.

Thankfully the site toycollector.com got a much closer look, and we get our first up close peak at these models. The models shown here are tooling models, but the attention to detail so far looks amazing! Can't wait to get our hands on these.

In addition to these two Elite models, we've been told that there will also be a 1:64th scale KITT for the 2012 Hot Wheels First Editions line. No specific release date or pricing has been released, however Hot Wheels Elite is saying that both the 1:18 and the 1:43 will be limited to 10,000 pieces.
