Over the last year, Lion Forge comics has released a digital comic based on Knight Rider.
Written by television scribe Geoff Thorne (Law and Order, Ben 10) with explosive artwork from Jason Johnson (Generation X, The Flash, Wetworks), the graphic novel is a modern-day reboot but with all the important pieces intact.

The trade paperback is labeled as Vol 1, which contains eight of the previously released series. Here is hoping there will be enough issues for a Vol 2!

Michael Knight and KITT – everyone’s ultimate dream car – return to action in this high-octane thriller, updated with tomorrow’s tech to combat the threats of today. Secret agent Michael Knight just wants to take his girlfriend Katherine out for a night on the town. The bad news is that Katherine is also a brilliant scientist whom he’s been assigned to protect, along with her top-secret “Project: Rider” – not a good combination for a romantic evening! When a team of mercenaries crashes their date, it’s up to Michael and the mysterious Bishop to keep Katherine safe and the project under wraps. What follows is a high-speed race through the streets and mountains of California in which loyalties are tested, alliances betrayed, and a global conspiracy is revealed. And, of course, at least one incredible talking car! All the turbo-charged thrill of the classic TV series is back in this high-tech spy-fi adventure!

Available for $14.99 from your local comic shop or Amazon.com.

Don't get your tailpipes in a spin, internet dwellers - but NBC posted some mindless video for your viewing.

Though the title is a bit misleading, they don't actually remix the original soundtrack but rather put new songs along side the traditional episode feed.

Which one is your favorite? The slow elevator jam of number two reminds of some classic late night 80s crime dramas.

Glen Larson

Today is an incredibly sad day for Knight Rider fans all around the world, as Glen A Larson - the creator of Knight Rider - has passed away at the age of 77 from esophageal cancer.

We at Knight Rider Online would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Glen's family during this difficult time. Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers.

We were always excited to chat with him at Knight Rider events and we are sad that his dream to bring Knight Rider to the silver screen will continue without him at the helm.

Thank you Glen for your creation and teaching a generation that one man can make a difference.

Larson Interview - by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in 2009

Last month, WWE Studios (yes, the wrestling folks) announced production of a movie starring Ken Jeong (Hangover) as a man who tries to win a celebrity death pool by killing David Hasselhoff. Hulk Hogan has a cameo (hence the WWE connection.) The Hoff is one of the producers and will also appear in the film as himself in a small role.

KITT will have a small part in the movie as well. Knight Rider Online obtained a casting call looking for voice actors for the role:

“We need a talented impressionist to mimic exactly the voice of KITT, the car from Knight Rider in a hilarious scene with David Hasselhoff's character. KITT, who has a combative relationship with David's agent, is actually a man that sits in the back seat of David's car and speaks to him from there. Three lines.”

The theatrical release is expected in 2015.

Variety covered the initial film announcement

KITT and Michael are back together! But their relationship seems to be in trouble... Samsung released a new extended commercial online promoting their Smart Home products. In the ad, David Hasselhoff tries to explain all of the new features, only to be constantly interrupted by a very jealous KITT. We get a look "behind the scenes" of the commercial to hear the Hoff explain the appeal of Knight Rider and to make sense of his partner's behavior.

Not a year has gone by in our nearly twenty years of online without a rumor of a Knight Rider feature film. But could now be the time? We reported last year when a rumor surfaced that The Weinstein Company had hired Brad Copeland to pen the script, and this latest news builds ontop of that. Sources that spoke with Schmoes Know informed them that both Chris Pratt & Danny McBride are in talks to headline the movie. No other specifics are given, but the casting leads them and us to believe that a comedic slant is in the cards - one that worked well for 21 Jump Street, but maybe not as well for the Duke of Hazzard remake.

Also no word was given on their intended roles, but many are suggesting - and we agree - that Pratt as Michael Knight and McBride as the voice of KITT could work nicely. That is of course, if they keep the character framework that we all know intact for what is being spoken of as a complete reboot.

Knight Rider Archives obtained a copy of the cover art for the upcoming Knight Rider digital comic from LionForge and illustrated by Lorenzo Lizana. It's starting to look pretty sweet, and even though this is an updated modern take, there is definitely some familiar cues to be had.

Things are continuing to looking positive as we hear more about their plans for this series. Writer Geoff Thorne has been pretty active via his twitter account so be sure to follow him there. Knight Rider Archives also asked some questions via twitter that they've consolidated into a post for easy archiving.

Be sure to remember to stop by your local Hallmark Gold Crown store this weekend for the 2013 Ornament Premiere where you can pick up your very own "KITT" ornament. KITT has the traditional bells and whistles - being battery operated and featuring scanner light effect and spoken phrases. Retails for $19.99.

We were able to get a sneak peak today at the packaging - hopefully this will hold you over until Saturday. And while we wouldn't describe KITT in exactly the same way (where is the turbo-boost?) we think it's a rad enough edition to our collection to overlook the oversight.

NBC Universal has announced a deal with Lion Forge Comics that would bring beloved shows from the 80s, including Knight Rider, back in comic form. They have tapped Geoffrey Thorne (of Leverage, Ben 10) as a writer and Jason Johnson (of Wetworks, Godstorm) to illustrate.

Not much is yet known about how much these comics will align with the Knight Rider many of us grew up with. However, when asked by Knight Rider Archives about this Geoff Thorne did say that it would be a "reboot. but you'll find all of it very familiar." We expect to find out more at San Diego Comic Con in two weeks.

The comics are planned for distribution in Q3 and Q4 2013, and will be available through the Amazon Kindle Bookstore, Apple iBooks, Barnes & Noble’s The Nook Book Store and Kobo.

The Weinstein Company announced today that it was bringing writer Brad Copeland on board to draft a script for the long-awaited Knight Rider motion picture. Brad has a strong background in comedy, having worked on the critically-acclaimed series News Radio, Arrested Development, and My Name is Earl. He also wrote the feature film Wild Hogs, and has a new indie project "Coffee Town" coming out next month.

This is still breaking news, and we'll announce more details about the project as we get them.

justin_bruening.jpgCool news.... Teresa Huang, staff writer for Knight Rider '08, got in touch with us to let us know about a new kickstarter short film project she's working on with some other Knight Rider alumni! The movie is called "Early Retirement", and is "a short film about two contract killers engaged in a deadly game of cat and mouse that only serves to cover a flirtatious love affair."

Justin Bruening is the lead actor - Teresa tells us "This project will mark his return to kicking ass and taking names! " Justin is also a producer.

Teresa will be producing and acting in the film opposite Justin. Our very own on-location reporter Sue interviewed Teresa during Knight Rider's production several years ago.

Rajeev Dassani is the director. Rajeev started Master Key Productions, the company that did all of the visual effects for Knight Rider. We visited them over the summer before the series started, and they gave us some great previews on video of the work they were doing.

In the last 4 days they raised about $3000 to reach their goal, but you have less than 36 hours to join in too. We pledged some money, and hope you'll think about doing the same. Come on, don't you want to see Justin getting poisoned on screen?
