Pair help KITT-start new 'Rider'
The Hollwyood Reporter reported today that David Hasselhoff is in talks to reprise his role as Michael Knight for the NBC TV Movie. There had been some debate about whether or not he would, but we now believe that this was just confusion with the two Knight Rider projects going in tandem, and his non involvement dealt solely with the Knight Rider Film.
THR also reported that Deanna Russo from The Young and the Restless has landed the roll as the childhood friend/girlfriend of the new Michael Knight.
Burned by his love for childhood best friend and one-time girlfriend Sarah Kamen (Russo), Mike is wasting away in Las Vegas when Sarah reappears and is willing to pay off Mike's gambling debt in exchange for help.Sarah is the brilliant estranged daughter of KITT inventor Charles Kamen, who works as an assistant professor in the engineering department at Stanford. When she receives word from talking-car KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand) that her father is missing, she and KITT set out to find and recruit Mike.
I probably speak only for myself, but I don't think that I can truely accept the new Knight Rider series without David Hasselhoff being Michael Knight. I can cope with him being older and less inclined to fight in a bar; but I can't cope with a contrived 'Mike Knight' impersonating his son, Sarah carmen meeting KITT, search for Mike blah blah blah. It sounds as bad as the Star Wars retrograde link from the original trilogy - an absolute failure since it alienated the original fans.
If they're going to do it properly, just pay David enough to do a couple of seasons and allow both new and original fans the pleasure of watching it as the story should be.

I think we need to rework the script a little bit.First off, we need william danniels to reprise his role of the original KITT.
Sure go ahead invent another car like him,but don't call him kitt. Use another name for the new car.Hell recreate karr and reprogramm him
to serve and protect.
Further more, unless it resemble the sequel
movie Knight Rider2000, and carries on from there,I doupt it will go into another series.
Further more,rename michaels son to something else.Otherwise there will be to much confusion.

Just pick up where the last movie left off. Michael takes over Knight Industries he rebuilds it. Michael assumes Devon's role. Kitt's gone, Devon's Dead, Build a new car, Find a New driver, Bring in a Hot new Mechanic Babe. Boom there you have it The New Knight Rider.

Be creative do somthing new. Don't hang on the coattails of a once great idea and then call it your own.
Case in point: Battlestar Galactica, Bionic Women, Planet of the Apes, Godzilla movie "USA"

You hope they won't start off calling him Mike? That's the character's name. It's not confusing. In fact, it's the opposite of confusing, as you say. Mike Tracer's name is Mike. See? Very easy. What would have them start off calling him? John? That would be confusing.
And you contradicted yourself fantastically there. You begin by saying they should pick up where they left off... ie. leave nothing unchanged from KR 2000. That sounds very UNcreative and a lot like riding coattails, as you put it... the two things you say they should NOT do.
If you can understand that they want to abandon the concept of TKR, then why can't you understand them retconning KR2000? The fact is, KR2000 was a bigger flop than TKR. At least TKR was made into a series.
If you're so sick of this reimagining thing, then go get the KR DVDs and keep on re-watching them. Problem solved.
I totaly agree to Andy Smith,if David Hasselhoff doesn't be Michael Knight as the only driver of Kitt,then i am sure that the new Knight Rider series will fail.Also they should not change the 82 black transam,it is best.

I agree with Darknight, no trans am, no William Daniels no Knight Rider. No other car will cut it. Even Charlie's Angels brought back the original Charlie's voice in the movie makeovers.
William Daniels was the voice of KITT!!!And Michael Knight needs to be in Devon's shoes as the head of Knight Industries.

I think Megan Fox from Transformers is ideal for the job,
and maybe she could like girls as much as cars just a thought.
I don't care either way she's hot.
I think with the amount of money this show has the potential to generate,
they should spend it on top quality acting vice CG morphing car stunts
to avoid becoming another Bionic Woman.
I'm going to also agree with Dark Knight, Paul, Larry Page and just about everyone here. Clearly the 'producers' and NBC haven't taken the time to consult with the fans that made this show into a legend, and thereby draw a consensus as to what REALLY needs to be done to make this work. I have no clue why one would want to call a show Knight Rider and then do it to please everyone BUT the fans? Sounds like they're doing the same thing they did with Star drek...and you know what happened there.
No Daniels + no original TA + FORD as KITT? = flop. Whats left to like? Of yeah DH is in it hopefully for more than a few minutes.
I know that there's a writer's strike and all, but this is totally rediculious. no way a ford mustang can be used to fill the place of the old Kitt car. If the writers really wanted to bring back the show correctly, then try using a new car like the new chevy volt. This car says cool, and style. Add to the story line, a car that runs on hydrogen, you get back to what Knight Industries was all about. Cool car looks, car of the future, and it evens fits in with today ecconmics.
I feel sick just thinking about what a disaster this is going to be.
