Thats great Sarfraz.. I hope its not too late...
Hmmm...since there are no pics of how the painted dash of the 1:18 KITT model will look like.... I wonder if it will look as detailed as this pic. (Can start comparing the unpainted dash to the pic of the real dash

it's the proximity of the passenger seat to the dash for me....no leg room compared to the real kitt pic above.

Poor passenger...if it was a woman, all she would do is cram both her legs to the right side of that dashboard, making for a natural feminine pose. But if it were a man sitting in there, I don't think he would appreciate both his legs crammed together, specially if he were wearing tight jeans or something. That would be harsh!

Showcase toys has changed the release date to November 2004. http://www.showcasetoys.com/knrikie1dioc.html
Unconfirmed, but it looks as though the model will be delayed till November... The good thing abt this is that RC2 can maybe make some adjustments to the model..the bad thing is, we have to wait a bit more longer......
Mods, could u please stick this thread?

I doubt it. In this months Diamond previews, it stated that it was going to be released in November. It was also listed that the November release date/price (the price was listed at 40US dollars) was still subjected to change.Lost Knight wrote:Maybe they made the delay because of E-mails from fans of this site and others? Perhaps the reason why they moved the release date to November was in anticipation of the 1:18 Aoshima release. Or perhaps do some last minute design changes. One thing is for sure, both Aoshima and ERTL will probably be available by Christmas, a time where people have the money and the inclination to spend. Let our holidays be happy, guys.

Oh yeah!!! I just saw it at HLJ!!!! http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?AOS07324 Damn.... Now I'm in a dilemma..... Which one to get? Knowing Aoshima, there will definitley be delays... I remembered when the 1:43 KITT was to be released, Aoshima kept extending the release month for the model from 2-3 mths maybe.... So expect delays for this model. I reckon the ERTL model will be released first..
The pic shown at hlj looks like the 1:43 scale KITT... How will the final model be like? Opening doors? Hood? Surely there will be a light up moving scanner... I'm almost certain of that!! What dash wld it have? Maybe it will have the season 3 and 4 dash.. It cld be an enlarged version of the 1:43 cars... I have to really save up!!! I think I'm getting both the ERTL and Aoshima KITT!! Or shd I just get KARR? I'm getting excited
Also available is the 1:18 KARR: http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?AOS07325
Maybe we could just get KARR so we can display it with the 1:18 Ertl KITT....hmmm...

I can only afford one 1:18 KITT...so for my money, I would definitely choose the Aoshima (if the price stays at around US$60.00). They have proven their worth in the past and I am confident that they will deliver the goods with this one. On the other hand, the ERTL still looks promising even with its flaws. But again, for the money, its gotta be Aoshima.

Yup... I have to agree.. Aoshima's version will definitely be very detailed... But it costs more than the Ertl 1:18 KITT though...
This is the detail that was given abt the Aoshima 1:18 KITT at http://hobbyworld.aoshima-bk.co.jp/scri ... KY04090710:
This is the detail that was given abt the Aoshima 1:18 KITT at http://hobbyworld.aoshima-bk.co.jp/scri ... KY04090710:
Goods explanation:
Popular Knight Rider machines are going to be reproduced in 1/18 big scale!!.
Producers actually visited the states to collect machine's data to make them close to real models.
So, you will be satisfied with this reproduction.
Scanner & doors are movable.
Don't miss this pre-order term since it may be sold out very quickly after its release!!

Gotta agree, those Aoshima models look far superior, but then most things from Japan usually are.
I'll get both the ertl and Aoshima models, if I can possibly afford it.
But if i had to pick, it's defo Aoshima.

I'd like to voice my opinion here on the Ertl Vs Aoshima thing. Aren't you guys going a bit off the deepend here going crazy over PROTOTYPE pictures? I mean really. Give Ertl a chance to make good here. Their TV/Movie Die Cast 1:18 vehicles have all hit the mark. I mean the detail on the General Lee, Ecto-1, Smokey and the Bandit, and soon to be Christine, have been awesome. I fully expect you'll all be blown away once the REAL finished product is shown. I've always admired Ertl's work in their die cast models.
As far as Aoshima is concerned, I'm not prepared to spend $60+ dollars on a 1:18 scale KITT because I have full trust that Ertl will make good on their version, and a more affordible price range of $30-$40. Tho I am tempted to buy Aoshima's 1:18 KARR.
By the way, I'm new. HI!

The only North American site that I know that sells Japan toys is http://www.showcasetoys.com. They sell the Aoshima 1/43 KITT and KARR so most probably, they will be selling the Aoshima 1:18 KITT as well as KARR...PBH wrote:Will the Aoshima 1:18 scale version be available in North America (Through North American vendors/sites) or only in Japan (or eBay) like the 1:43 scale versions released earlier?
Anyways, I did not realise that there was a thread regarding the Aoshima 1:18 KITT and KARR started by Sarfraz>>>http://knightrideronline.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=5642 We can continue discussing abt the Aoshima cars there...
Lets keep this thread strictly for the ERTL 1:18 KITT....

Not at all. There is already a colored prototype pic, and the end product will most likely resemble that. The release date is very near already and that colored pic has a very high possibility of being the actual product.MischievousJoe wrote:Aren't you guys going a bit off the deepend here going crazy over PROTOTYPE pictures?
