If I can't buy the big one ...

Post by KI2000 »

I'll buy a small one ... That's what I thought, so I bought this item on e-bay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... OAB:BENL:6

What do you think of it? It looks nice, doesn't it :) I already have a mini-z racer from kyosho. Very nice too!

I think paying in the region of 80 bucks for something like that is a bit steep....i don't think it's a big car at all, defo not the same size as 1.18 scale, even if it does come with a nice framed box.

That's pretty cool. I love the paint scheme on KARR.

Very nice, the scheme looks better than the other maker where the Black paint job looks very blue. Although, after re-watching KITT vs KARR on Saturday, it looks like the paint job isn't 100% accurate unless my eyes deceive me. The gray tone goes around the tops of the wheel wells, and it doesn't look like that here.

it's not that big idd, but it looks very nice. the mini-z racer wasn't that big either, but it's still beautiful!
the paint job looks pretty good imho. I look forward to receiving it. Another nice item to add to my collection

There is a KITT model, but as far as I know these models are avalaible in Japan only, unless it's imported from there of course.

Actually, it does. If you look closely at the first picture, you can see what appears to be a hair-thin line that goes along the wheel wells, which from what I recall was how it looked in the episode.

You won't regret getting this KI2000... I have it and I must say that it is definitely worth it... It is manufactured by Aoshima and is 1/43 in scale. The interior and exterior detail done on both KITT and KARR are absolutely superb. The interior is the dash from season 3 and 4. It also comes with a lighted moving scanner.... And no, the KARR model doesn't have the gray tone that goes around the wheel wells... But its no big a deal.... The model still look great!!! Probably the best looking ones around...

Here are some pics....

I'm starting to eat my words, those are really cool. hey, 1.43 scale, is that about the size of the Corgi kitt cars with the metal michael knight figure? or a bit bigger/smaller?

The Corgi KITT model is 1:36 in scale making it slightly bigger than the Aoshima model. However, the Aoshima looks and functions better than the Corgi. I once owned the Corgi KITT but I sold it because I wasn't happy with its features. It had no sideview mirrors, it had an upside down stearing wheel, it had terrible rims on the tires and the front scanner does not light up. If it weren't for its high price, I would also buy the Aoshima, but as of now, I am eagerly awaiting the 1:18 version, which will dwarf every KITT that has been manufactured so far (except the talking Kenner KITT and actual replica cars).

The 1:18 scale ERTL version thats due out in October '04. If they release it and put side by side with the Corgi and Aoshima, the ERTL KITT will be the winner in terms of size and features.

imrambecks- do you have pictures of K.A.R.R.'s dashboard? Is it the 1st/2nd season dash? That's the first model I've ever seen of K.I.T.T. with the 3rd/4th season dash. What the hell are those yellow and white buttons supposed to be next to the monitor though? Ah no big deal, still awesome.

screw it then, i'll wait for the ertl model. i'm not paying for something that's smaller than the corgi cars (i did but it was a japanese car that was £15 so not bad..hot wheels i think it was).

i don't see the point of even putting the flashing scanner on that car, it probably looks like a little light blob.

sorry KI2000, i'm not trying to disrespect it and i'm sure it will look good on your shelf still. :D

No problem Skav, it's your opinion of course.
The ERTL model will that be a diecast model or a model that you have to make yourself?

KARR has a similar dashboard as KITT's, meaning it also has the season 3/4 dash. Just a minor flaw. The only difference for KARR's dashboard is that it has a yellow coloured voice modulator which can be seen on the 1/43 scale car..

I have no idea what those yellow and white/silverish buttons on the left of the monitor are though:

Regarding the size: The cars are about 11.5cm....

imranbecks- Thanks for posting that, I appreciate it. Yes, a minor flaw, but nonetheless still cool cars. I'd buy them myself if they were a little bit bigger and weren't so much money. Pictures sure can be deceiving, they don't look 1/43rd scale there. :?

Yep they can be deceiving, that's why you always have to read the comments on ebay! It's clearly stated that the models are 1/43rd

I'm wondering about the new model, are there pictures already? And when will it come out?

I am still wondering if they are going to release the new models seeing as there has not been any official word concerning them. By official word I mean that I hear it from here. Just like when The first season of Knight Rider came out I heard it here first and then I believed it. So Neps - I wait word from you and the other site officials concerning the new model of K.I.T.T. Until then I'll keep my scanners peeled.
