Dude! I used to have that car! It had like REALLY tinted windows (dark purple or blue I think) hiding all of the electronics in the car. It had a circle tread thing on the bottom that would make it 'bump n go' so to speak.
The scanner was also interesting in so much that it was one light fixed on a metal rod that in turn would swipe back in forth as the car moved. It was huge too, about the size of this AOSHIMA one. I had forgotten all about that. I wonder if someone else has a pic of that car, because in all my years on ebay I have never seen it since like the 80's.

wow, someone else actually remembers that car ! it was a trip to singapore in 1986, its was my 10th birthday, and i was at this shopping mall, and i saw that car , boxes upon boxes placed on top of each other. i knew it wasnt licensed becuase they used the word "Nite Rider" which i thought was funny, but it was so big like a tamiya car , thats why i never forgot it. Dude where do you live? if u are from the US, i am suprised this toy made it that far !
if i am ot mistaken someone on this forum has that car,he took the body and placed it on a 1/10 touring chassis, pre aoshima KITT of course.

Yeah I live in the US, I had no idea it was from another country or it wasn't even licensed. (I was 5 or 6 at the time so I don't think I noticed it saying "Night" instead of "Knight".
Me and my brother both had one each back in 1984/85. I miss that car so bad! It's really the only Knight Rider thing I owned as a kid. I wish we could figure out what company made those. I would love to get my hands on it after all these years. They got the trans-am body perfect, so when others hear us say knock off, it wasn't bad looking like other knock off or non licensed KITT cars.
Alcyon2sp, you are the ONLY one I've met that remembers that car, I'm glad I wasn't remembering wrong. (I wish it would show up on Ebay lol)

it seems everyone is younger than me! i am 34 now, judging by what you said, you must be 29 or 30 now..i am getting old ! but i still can pull off a lot of 80's bmx tricks on my 80's bmx bikes today !
yes i am kind of suprised i dont see that car around in flea markets, probably a lot of kids destroyed them back in the day. if i see it in a flea market i will buy it straight away.
on anotheer note, i wired my aoshimas KITT leds last night, 3 whites on each front, and 3 reds on each rear side. each side wired in series then parallel to the battery pack. the lights work great until i plug in the ESC, then one wise of the rear lights would burn out, and it happened twice, i dont know why! maybe the ESC fan is generating some back EMF..i will have to investigate further. till then no pics yet

by the way, i live in malaysia, which is above singapore. i am a mechanical engineer, but i do know some basic electrics, experience gained from RC car tinkering. i checked my wiring with an elkectrical engineer and he says the way i wired them is correct..i am baffled myself, its overly frustrating to solder and hot glue everything in place then when i plug in the ESC one row of lights burn out !

It looks like it except I don't remember there being a CB radio mic attached to it like in this picture.
Hmmm, very interesting.

I got the setup for my Christmas present. Can you recommend any tips on working on the body? Plus how do you go about trimming the lexan? I'm not the greatest at these projects but I still want mine to look great.

if you are already into rc cars, bring the body to a rc shop to get it cut. thats what i did, i cant cut bodies neatly even to save my life ! but i did paint and wire the lights myself.

I finally received my HPI Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R T-Drift tires and mounted them on the wheels. They look awesome! Which tires are you using? What's your RC setup?

I have an HPI Sprint 2 Drift with a Castle Creations Mamba Max Pro with a CMS36-5700 brushless motor. It runs great.

I found out that I greatly overpaid for my scanner all because the company I contacted waited forever to reply to me. Now I see they are offering it to me for close to $35 US or 27.45 Euros. I paid close to $45 for mine only because I got ripped off on the shipping.

As far as when I complete the body, I don't plan on using all of the decals. On all of my bodies, I refrain from using decals when I can get away from it. It takes away the effect of realness. As for my lights, I bought a drift light kit that I plan on using. I hope it looks good. I don't want to have to buy a new set just for this.

I ma using maxconcept drift tyres i bought a year ago, they dont seem to be the super hard type, they grip a bit better, hence i have more speed when i drift. i am using a kawada sv-10 alcyon,it was released in late 98, and its basically a copy of the HPI RS4 Pro, but with more efficient drive belts. it looks very similar to the sprint2, its a old school car after all. i use a old speed passion GT1.1 ESC with a Speed Passion 11.5R motor. i also do not use all the decals, i did not use the windscreens, and front and rear light decals. the front ligh buckets makes the car look good enough. i used a postion of the side windowws tinti stickers to cut them up and tint the rear light areas to create my own blackout which looks more realistic. i wired the lights my own self. i had to ream the bucket holes a litttle bigger to fit in the LEDs thiugh, then i hot glue them to the buckets.
