Probably because it was a Universal/NBC produciton, correct me if I'm wrong.
Anyway, even if it was the contract had probably run out by then as Knight Rider was made in the 80s.
Why do you keep using the yellow quesion mark instead of an actual typed out question mark?
I find it a little distracting.

We'll have to wait and see, its unlikey but some have suggested that its possible as A-Team has Season 5 to release and Magnum will have more they may use TKR as a filler gap.
Or they'll move onto something new

I heard a rumor (take it as that and nothing more) that GM didn't want Universal using Pontiacs anymore in their shows because GM was going to make a Knight Rider version of the Trans Am but some guy that had one of the prototypes jumped a train with it so they decided the liability wasn't a good idea. So that's why they couldn't call KITT a TransAm. Though in one episode they did refer to him as a Pontiac (Inside Out I think it was, season 2). Wasn't it after that they started calling him a "t-top"?
So it might be why they didn't want them using Pontiacs, or GM cars in TKR either. Who knows.

lol, You have the story backwards.
According to the Season 1 DVD commentary, GM didnt want Knight Rider refering to KITT as a Pontiac because people would go to their Pontiac Dealers and request "Knight Rider Edition Trans Ams." Also, one guy bought a Brand new Trans Am and tried to jump a train and failed.

There was no such edition, well i dont think but as KITT facinated the viewers , the average Joe would go down to the Pontiac dealer and would simply ask for the "Knight Rider" edition thinking it was being made but it wasn't, its a simpler way of requesting a black Trans Am with T-Tops, tan interior and a red scanner.

There was an interview with Glen Larsen online somewhere where he actually said that Pontiac WAS going to make a KITT edition but one guy that had one tried to jump a train so GM thought it was too much liability to create one so they scrapped the idea.
It was in the BBC special "I Love 83" where they did a thing about Knight Rider, and did some interviews. Glen Larsen even mentioned he used the Battlestar Galactica thing in KR for KITT's scanner.
Here's the thread link but the links to the video don't work anymore, unfortunately...

Hi
The Producers want to make a deal with Ford, all that cars where new models at this time and it was the best promotion. I think thats not god for the show to but you know its better to make money for this guys. I have seen long time ago on the internet that the producers would have the return of Michael and KITT in a Ford car to, a ford car who looks like KITT but even a Ford. In Germany know we have Team Knight Rider in Scree from SUPER RTL and i collect every episode on my PC IN DVD Quality to have a Collection. My Best Episodes are Legion of Doom and the Episode with KRO. Was a good Series with elemenst of Knight Rider but i think sometimes its to strange. They hat to have more Knight Rider Elements
