Why wasnt Kitt Mentioned?
You know how Michael and Kitt were a team. So why in the opening and closing credits Kitt was never mentioned? "Michael Knight, a lone crusader in a dangerous world, the world of the Knight Rider." That quote could of mentioned Kitt in a way. Kitt had gotten no props whatsoever.
Poor Kitt.

Maybe they don't mention KITT since they never credited William Daniels as the voice.
My own opinion is that they don't need to give KITT a mention in the credits, ie, "A young loner and his amazing car, in a world of criminals...etc" because while Wilton Knight/Richard Basehart is actually doing the voiceover you have lots of cool shots of KITT doing stuff, driving, turbo boosting, smashing through stuff, going into SPM, etc, etc, not to mention the close ups of the mirrors, lights, wheels, etc.
You don't need to mention KITT because in his case, pictures paint a thousand words.

Sure. The guy doing the voiceover "A Shadowy Flight" etc during the opening credits is the same voice who says "One man can make a difference, Michael," directly to Michael and in Michael's thoughts, at various points through the pilot and at the end of the first few season 1 episodes. It's the character Wilton Knight, played in the pilot by Richard Basehart.

Good point. Season 2 was the best introductions with all the jumps that Kitt did. The Knight Rider theme and credits are all about Kitt. Everyone knew Kitt was the star of the show and David was the co-star.Paul wrote:Maybe they don't mention KITT since they never credited William Daniels as the voice.

Really? Damn, I need that book. Anyone got a used copy they would sell for maybe $10?1982K.I.T.T. wrote:In the book Knight Legacy, they say that William Daniels agreed to do the role if they didn't mention him in the credits. He wanted KITT to have his own identity.

William Daniels meant that in terms of not wanting his own name in the credits, but the initial question is why wasn't K.I.T.T. the character mentioned along with Michael Knight in the opening theme. Since most of us somehow never noticed this before, I guess that just proves that the pictures did all the talking!
