Starting Up the KITT Trans Am for filming

Hey, does anyone know if the Trans Ams customized into KITT for filming had any engine trouble. If so did they have David Hassellhoff drive the stock KITT Trans AM until the "computer car KITT Trans AM" was repaired for the sake of filming schedule.

Some of the cars had an engine replacement from V8 305 to V8 350.
Mostley for quicker acceleration and such
