In my opinion, the version 1 dash (as you called it) looked way more functional and realistic than the later version. All of the led's were scanning, lots of movement, graphics and very well laid out.
The version 2 dash looked like it was lit up with a flourescent light behind colored paper. Nothing ever moved, other than the digital gauges. The one TV was hokey at best. lack of buttons and what not just made it bland.
They should have reimagined the whole season 3/4 look to be more function than the first, not less. my vote goes to the original design, hands down.
My opinion on that!!!!!

I preferred season 4's dash, it had a slight glossy feel to it, plus it looked more "professional". It left season 1's dash in the dust with it's amateur look...probably due to the boring square modulator, I can't put my finger on it.

One thing that the season four dash has going for it is the single, larger display screen. The two screens on the season one dash would probably be too small to be useful in an emergency situation.Skav wrote:I preferred season 4's dash, it had a slight glossy feel to it, plus it looked more "professional". speaking of dashes, anyone know how well the steering wheel fits without the pod unit? in the second picture, it would appear there is no gap without the pod unit. my two major goals over the next few years will be the steering wheel and season 1/2 dash. so until i get around to the pod i wanted to make sure there wont be a huge gap between the two.

That wheel was Rob Lousiells original design. When he first deisgned his replica dash boards, there were no pods. He later revamped the whole desogn to ad the pods. That is what you are looking at in that picture. Rob's old wheel with Eric Nagy's one tv dash. That picture was Doug Vaders old replica before he sold it. Not sure who owns it now.themarvelous3 wrote:speaking of dashes, anyone know how well the steering wheel fits without the pod unit? in the second picture, it would appear there is no gap without the pod unit. my two major goals over the next few years will be the steering wheel and season 1/2 dash. so until i get around to the pod i wanted to make sure there wont be a huge gap between the two.

Basically anytime Michael might need critical information while driving at a high speed. The display screens are already too far to the side to be of much practical use under those conditions. Making the screens small reduces their usefulness even more.Skav wrote:I'm not sure I follow. What kind of emergency situation?

On the other hand, it's debatable how useful video display screens might be in a pinch anyway.
