Why is it called "skiing"?

Post by Michael Pajaro » Wed Aug 20, 2014 2:15 pm

Driving on two wheels is called skiing in the stunt world. KITT had his Ski Mode. But why? Nothing about being on two wheels seems to relate to skiing at all. Why isn't it called surfing, or skating, or hopping, or even twerking?

Does anyone know the origin of the term?

Well they were based in California and everyone had a tan so maybe surf mode would be appropriate lol. There really isn't anything else you can call being on 1 of 2 legs. When a surfer surfs he still uses both feet on 1 board. Granted a ski can be used to do the same in the air for a board gliding. I don't know what else to call it besides ski mode.
