question about episode ten wheel trouble

ok i was watching the season three episode ten wheel trpuble right at t he begining when michael and kitt was stuck in traffic kitt moved side ways to get out of traffic i looked up on the knight two thousands tecnical manual and it doesnt say anything about kitts funtions moving sideways.....can someone shed some light into this.......thanx

Much like driving on water in Return to Cadiz, this function was only used once in the series. Since this particular feature was never given an official name, it can't be listed as a specialized ability like the other well known features K.I.T.T. uses throughout the series.
