I was watching Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home the other night (the one with the whales and them going back to 1986)... and it looks like Captain Kirk took a tour of the FLAG semi:
Background look familiar?
I know they liked to reuse props, but Knight Rider is Universal and Star Trek is Paramount... but they share props between companies and studios?

It's similar, but I don't see why it couldn't be inspired by Star Trek...

Scheffe says on page 34 of
The Knight Rider Companion that many of the props used in Knight Rider were rented from a rental house called "Modern Props". I'd say there's no reason why Paramount couldn't do the same.
This was in response to Scheffe stating he was not involved with the design of the F.L.A.G. semi.

Yeah I noticed the Semi computers in the background too.

I wonder if the production team tracked down the same computers or is it some CG magic from MKF?

Hi,
the Computer is from Modern Props. It is called "Boomerang (angled) radar wall unit with dual tracking screens, lights, and switches":

I also have the film Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and now I see that it is there equal in the series Knight Rider, because I didn't know about that.
Good work KnightCrusader99!

A friend of mine who works for one of the big prop rental companies such as Modern Props has pointed out is that
a suprising amount of props are rented out rather than built specifically for the series.

"Airplane II: The Sequel" was released December 1982. You can see the computer from the Semi in the background, when First Officer Dunn and Navigator Unger tried to deactivate the computer room. Unfortunately, they get blown out of an airlock, so Dunn and Unger were over and done.
William Shatner played Buck Murdock and John Vernon played Dr. Stone.
