Missed IMHO

Post by blurpee » Fri Sep 26, 2008 7:29 pm

1. KITT and Michael bonding - KITT wanting to almost be human and have approval from Mike (man / machine) - One man can make a difference, but not with 25 other people watching - computers may be common, but true AI is still sci-fi and a great for characterization exploration
2. No government - missed the charm of non-government, private organization helping the little guy out - not global intercontential CIA/FBI/DHS/theworldisgoingtoblowup connections
3. No need for guns (if #2 above is interpreted, cannot use willingly w/o consequences)
4. Lack of wits to solve problems, instead too over the top
5. To much sex as an advertisement for teenageers
6. Too much technology - not enough characterization (well, except sex) - the creators do not need to prove themselves by taking it to the next level

This show will be cancelled.

Im not trying to slam you by any means..

I just dont understand how you can come to a conclusion like that from one episode, at least watch a few of them and see what you think then.

Nobody knows how this show is going to pan out, not even the creators.

I remain very optimistic and I wont make my mind up until I've seen a fair few of them.

Give it a chance man!

I liked it, and I hope the show lasts, but the early reviews/ratings are bad......
.....hopefully it will get better ratings after a few more episodes, but I don't know, there was already one show canceled after only one episode.....I forgot which one.........People forget, so much time has passed since the first show, times have changed, and they're trying to catch up with these times to make the show work. Hopefully people will catch on. Remember, it has been only one episode...and, to me, it seems as that episode is just laying the groundwork/foundation for the future of the show.....

I do agree, though, that there are too many characters.....they should have just kept the originals (from the pilot, not the Hoff version of the show). :kitt2:

Clipping from the Yahoo review on the fall line up...

"Despite the huge promotional push from NBC and the ratings success of the TV movie, "Knight Rider" debuted to disappointing ratings with only 7.3 million viewers. That's not so hot and could mean that this remake is in trouble."

I really wonder just how much of that is due to the early preview being shown by just about any website that shows streaming content.

I hope that Yahoo is wrong...

I mentioned in another post that Bionic Woman had a strong first episode and then it just degraded into unwatchable dirge.

Lets hope NBC learned and Knight Rider goes the other way.

I would think that the first few episodes are already finished...it's too late.

There's good reason for the ratings being low in the line up of shows that night...
look what it was up against.....

Code: Select all

8:00 ABC Dancing with the Stars 15.568 3.6/10 2.4/8
     FOX Bones 9.611 3.1/9 2.7/9
     NBC Knight Rider 7.300 2.4/7 2.0/7

UNI Cuidado on el Angel 3.585 1.4/4 1.6/5
The 3rd episode of Dancing with the Stars, which has an overly massive fan-base. And Bones, another well established show with a large fan-base.
But if you go through the individual rating process, you'll see it won it's key demographics for that hour with male kids, teens and adults....
Im pretty sure that's a good thing, because like it or not (and i like it more than the original, now that all these old fans have bashed the show for being too cheesy), this is the new Knight Rider and either deal or dont watch it and make the ratings fall and we lose probably the one last chance for a decant Knight Rider series on a major network, with real actors and talented and respected executive producer.
What more could you want?
"Michael, I agree with your earlier assessment, back-up plans suck."- KI3T
Put the word out!
WATCH THE SHOW!!!: Wed at 8:00pm on NBC.
Its getting better and gaining ratings, AWESOME!!
