ATTACK MODE KITT

Post by knightfan1 » Thu Jan 19, 2006 6:05 pm

got this picture off the code 1 auto site. notice the gearshift is like a videogame trigger. after having this idea for a while, i wanted to know what you all think of kitt with a ton of weaponry. missles, rockets, laser machine guns (should they set the film in the year 3000), landmines, the works ! tell me what you think.

here's the link to see what i'm talking about

To be perfectly honest, I believe that arming Kitt would be a terrible idea. His prime directive is the preservation of human life, and adding missles, rockets and machine guns would be in direct violation of that directive. The only actual weapon that he should ever have is his laser, as it is only used in times of great need, and never against a human target, nor a target that could potentially endanger a human.

i realize his prime directive is human preservation, but this would be self-defense, if you will, to take out the bad guys and their high tech weapons. kitt would simply be defending himself and his driver. think about it.

Ah, but against the vast majority of villains, Garth Knight excluded, Kitt is already a defensive weapon by virtue of his vast speed, manoeuvrability and the MBS. Using these don't risk violating his prime directive like rockets and machine guns would.

Correct me if I'm wrong... But isn't that the control for the Viper Mk II from the original "Battlestar Galactica"? It looks pretty close to it.

Well there is nothing wrong with dreaming, and heck, those things would work perfectly on Karr. :) You should also remember that just because my opinion is that Kitt shouldn't have these weapons, it doesn't mean that you're not still entitled to want to see him with them. :)

Throughout the series, KITT ran over or rolled onto bad guy's feet, and swatted them with his door, trapped a guy's foot between his bumper and a fence pretending to be a UFO, etc. That's gotta hurt, maybe even break a few bones.

I think the idea behind KITT was that he could cause some harm or damage, but not lethal harm or damage, and only if necessary to catch the bad guys.

FWIW, I wouldn't want to be on the bad side of even that robot car! Firebirds are rather heavy, especially when loaded with all that computer equipment and a nice, heavy turbine engine. Ouch!
