Retraction of my Dream Car Garage Statements

Post by knytrydr » Thu May 19, 2005 7:36 am

I received this e-mail from Rob Louisell today about my post about the Dream Car Garage KITT segment.

>Hi Tony,
>I saw your post and wanted to respond. Tom on Dream Car Garage >has a catchphrase he uses everytime he test drives a car. That is "Do >you need a car like this? No. Do you want a car like this? Yes." If a >person never saw the show they might think he was belittling it. But I >spent 4 hours with him and he really did like it.

Yup, I had never seen the show before the KITT segment so I was unfamiliar with the show's format.
My apologies to any fans of the show.

He can say what he wants, but he clearly was belittling the show. Was his comment (and I'm paraphrasing here), "Hm, I've got money, I could buy a Porsche or a BMW... No, let me buy an '81 Firebird!" part of every show, too?
