George Barris Article in "Where are They Now?" Mag

Post by Keon2005 » Sun May 01, 2005 10:13 am

Hello all, I just purchased what appears to be some sort of Entertainment Weekly or National Enquirer Magazine. It talks about famous TV and Film stars of the past and what they were now doing. You may have seen it because Lynda Carter-Wonder Woman is on the front cover. Anyhow there was an article on page 78 talking about George Barris and how he created film and television's most popular cars. They had photos of the General Lee, Batmobile, Starsky and Hutch Torino, and the Beverly Hillbillies jalopy. They mentioned Kitt in the article but there was no photo of him. As I read this article I thought to myself there were cars in there that he merely built replicas of, and there were cars that he did create. I think he is getting to much credit for vehicles that were already built. Example the General Lee was put together by Warner Bros. prop department, and Kitt was created by Mike Shiffe. What do you think people?

I saw this article, and I agree with you. Too bad they didn't show KITT like they did with some of the other cars.

Maybe K.I.T.T. wasn't shown because he didn't truly create him. He only designed those 4th season cars. I think it was enough to get a mention because he did have something to do with it, but nothing that he deserved full credit for. At least that's the reason I hope there's no picture.
