what make of car is KITT? is he a chevy camaro or a pontiac firebird?

It was either a 82-84 Pontiac Trans Am with auto transmission, T-Tops, power windows, and power locks.

KITT was a Trans Am. The Trans Am is basically the more powerful version of the Firebird. The Trans Am, Firebird, and Camaro share the same body code and frame.

Don't forget there was also a Firebird SE version as well (which KITT was not that version either).

In addition, they modified the screen cars by taking out the 305 Crossfire and putting in a heavier, more powerful 350 Chevy engine in I think most if not all cars. At least one car had a 5-gal (was it) racing cell for fuel, and at least one had a modified brake system so that they could easily do those 180 turns. :)
