Michael Knight signed 8x10 with KITT

Post by word72 » Fri Apr 22, 2005 12:50 pm

hey all,

first off - i really do want to apologize if it's bad form to be posting like this - i tried contacting the webmaster first to see if it was okay, but i didn't hear back from him.

basically, i've got this glossy 8x10 david hasselhoff photo with KITT in the background - that he signed and gave to me when i was a kid - around 1984-85 - when i was a HUGE fan of the show.

after all this time, and after much debate, i've decided to put it up for auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... %3AIT&rd=1

and i thought this would be the most appropriate place to let people know about it.

yes, it's commercial, and again, i'm sorry if this isn't the right place for it, but it's also a GREAT piece of history that i think a lot of fans would appreciate.

so hope you enjoy it, even if it's just to get a glimpse of KITT glowing in the background.

and thanks for reading.

This might sound strange as I have never collected anything that has been signed by a celebrity because to me its worthless. Its a signature on a photo. Why would I want a photo signed by him, let alone a signed photo with your name on it?

I have a similar poster, but it was mainly his autograph, via his fan club, and it's worth keeping!;)

why...

knight racer,

why would a fan of the show want this photo? well, i can imagine several reasons: among them, the fact that it's an old, well-preserved shot of Michael Knight and his beloved KITT - taken at the height of the show's fame - i'd say a collector would be pretty interested in it.

as far as the autograph is concerned, i'm not a collector of such things, but i know that some people are and they get a kick out of owning something that a person they respect made their mark on. the fact that it's addressed to me - who knows, maybe some people wouldn't want it.

what it comes down to, in my mind, is that it's a cool old photo of a character and a time that a lot of people recall fondly, and in my opinion, it captures that moment in time perfectly (and yes, it did have significance for me for some time, but i've decided that it's time for me to sell it).

it may not mean anything to you, but it might to someone else.

Well in that case, I have about 112 pictures I have of just pure promotional pics.More If I really dig into my archives of promotional shots I have collected over the past 6 years.I have collected them for other purposes such as selling one of the best archives of knight rider on 7 cd-rs.I can really put my adobe photoshop skills to work with these pics and make similar prints to the one you just posted using photo gloss paper. Who knows If yours sells for a high price,I might just make my own.No signature of coarse but hey It might go up in value that way too.

I'd have to agree with Knight Racer. I wouldn't want a picture that was signed to someone else, but I would love a picture of DH and KITT!! :P

also Word72 I think it's cool that you have an autographed pic of DH and KITT but I would think it would be special because it was made out to you?!?

Sorry about the auction.. it sold for $1.95. You should have at least set a reserve price of $10 or whatever. People might not want to pay too much for an autograph made out to someone else, but I'd hate to lose it for two dollars. :(
