What do you mean Dave Knight? The ERTL KITT and 1:18 General Lee are already assembled from the factory. Do you mean an AMT or MPC plastic model kits? I think Gonzaloa bought the diecast ones since this thread is about the diecast versions.

If you mean you have customized and detailed your 1:18 scale diecast models, then a more appropriate word to describe what you do is "customizing". It would be untrue if you say you built them because they are already built.
i meant that they do offer the general lee as a kit you can put together in the 1/18 scale i got a few of them clearanced out and detailed them like i said and put them back together i should not have used the word customized i should have said made more accurate  .
Michael: "You know, your as much fun as a divorce, which is not a bad idea!"
KITT: "I want custody of ME!"

Ah ok, now I understand. I didn't know they made General Lee kits in 1/18 scale. Your friends are lucky if you made their kits for them specially if they don't possess the skills to build it themselves. :)

I think I know what the problem is when you mean
i just unscrewed every single screw on the car but the engine or something was just not letting me take the bottom of the car as it was stuck
When you unscrewed all the screws, there should've been 6 all together. What's "stuck" is the steering wheel to the dash. You must gently pull down on the steering wheel to seperate it away from the dash. Then the Chasis and body should come apart no problem. But it looks like you solved your door problem
Okay bro, take care,
tetsu
i just tried it,but the steering wheel wouldnt budge

Hi Hunter,
Yeah, the steering wheel is very tightly in place. my first time dissassembling KITT, I was afraid that it would break but you just have to apply some tough love there and press down on it. I've taken the car apart a million times without the plastic breaking, so they did make it sturdy.
But Don't do it if you think it's going to break. Go with your gutt. You know your model best,
Good luck bro,
Tetsu

Hey Hunter,
Holy S...! Your steering wheel broke off? Man I feel like it's my fault.
Wait... did the steering wheel just break at the wheel or did the whole thing just come loose from the chassis? I'm real surprised it broke.

Hey guys, I've managed to get my camera hooked up and download the picture I took of me and my KITT on the return trip home from the Moultrie Car Show. Follow the link:

http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/code_brea ... m=ae38.jpg

I've also got a few pictures of some of the Mustangs and other vehicles I thought were interesting at the show on my camera. I still need to download those onto the computer and whatnot.

Also you can look here (no videos) http://de.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/greenp ... /my_photos
Tetsu i would recommend a Dremel tool, but it would be a little bit tricky to realize this!
But like you see here (thanks to tetsu) http://mywebpages.comcast.net/johnwbm/video.htm is everything possible :D

I think these lights are way better than the ones that originally come with the model. Not the best but.

Should I be worried that I've yet to find the 1/18 KITT in stores yet? I check a variety of stores EVERY WEEK and to this date I've yet to find any evidence of the car even shipping. Please don't tell me this is an online order item only! Have I missed out completely on it?

I found my K.I.T.T at the Pittsburgh Auto Show at a vendor's table. The guy was from a hobby shop. Perhaps try looking at one of those. They don't sell the model is regular toy stores for some reason.

KITT: "No. I'm a tight end for the Chicago Bears!"

Why wait a second longer? It doesn't appear it will ever show up in your average local store. Buy it online, they're not expensive...with shipping included, the bill shouldn't be more than $35.00. They may not be available online for long, why risk it? It's really not that expensive when you can get your hands on it now. It's only 35 bucks, you can make that much in a day quite easily.

I agree-- definitely buy it online now. I haven't seen it in any stores here in NY yet myself, so before you know it, the ones available online might skyrocket in price.

Anyone here order from idcow.com? I've been to their site a few times, but I've never ordered from them myself (I usually stick to Canadian sites, eh). Lots of photos on each diecast car including KITT.
