Hey guys,
I was planning on buying the 1st season of Knight Rider on DVD but I heard that the makers changed the theme music or something? This made me skeptical. Did the company completely butcher the theme song? Anything else the've changed besides the opening theme? Also, how's the picture quality like? Is it like how you would see on Sci-fi channel?
Thanks again guys,
Tetsu

I can say for the Region 1 DVD versions that all original music was left intact complete with opening teasers. For other DVD regions, changes were made such as the removal of teasers, the order of the pilot episode being last, 7 single-sided discs (as opposed to 4 discs on the Region 1 set [3 double-sided and 1 single-sided]), and a change in the artwork. As far as the theme song or any other music goes, as far as I know it was left intact.Tetsu wrote:I was planning on buying the 1st season of Knight Rider on DVD but I heard that the makers changed the theme music or something? What will become of season 2 is a different story. NBC Universal likes to keep a momentum going once they release one of their series which has meant in the past that they spent less (or no) time on the re-acquisition of original music. I just have a really bad feeling most of season 2's music is going to be replaced. They didn't even bother making any effort to put bonus features on the upcoming second seasons of many of their shows because of this "momentum" nonsense, so so far it's not looking good in my opinion.

Yeah. It would be a real shame if they didn't get the rights for the original music. You can't replace something like "Owner of a lonely heart" in the beginning of Silent Knight. But the only good thing is that there really isn't that much copyrighted music in season 2. I think seasons 3 and 4 had more music done by other artists (not by Don Peake). We can only hope...
