The Screen Actors Guild is renegotiating (as always) with studios. William Daniels (past SAG president) remains an outspoken member. An article in Variety today says that although Daniels is very vocal, he is still well-liked in the industry. They contrast him with SAG Board Member Kent McCord who has been a little abrasive:
"Daniels, for example, doesn't provoke the same reaction even though he led SAG as its president during a six-month commercials strike in 2000 and remains on the SAG board. The genial Daniels is also just as well known for his work on "St. Elsewhere," as the voice of the car in "Knight Rider" and his role as Dustin Hoffman's father in "The Graduate."
It's good to hear that William Daniels can be tough yet still be well-liked.
DVD sales were not part of the new contract, but here's an interesting piece of data about the existing DVD policy:
"Writers and directors usually get about nickel residual each from each $15 DVD, while actors split up about 15 cents per disc."
