Got a 84 Transam

Post by Knight Girl » Sun Jan 16, 2005 12:25 pm

I finally decided to get a transam instead of a saturn to make into Kitt. I like the Saturns but they are very hard to find. I found a 84 Transam black t-tops with the gold on the botton. It looks to be in great body shape but needs some mechanical work. I will just take one step at at time....hey I read some Kitts take years to convert so I'm in no hurry. I will just drive Herbie in the meantime. :)

As mechanical issue, my mechanic called and said it needed front end work, major tune-up and carburator overhaul, rear brakes and muffler.I will take one step at a time..I'm in no hurry.

That's a great donor car, Knight Girl. Patience is virtue anyway.

That's a nice car that you bought, Knight Girl. It appears to be a Recaro Edition. Very good condition for its age, the pop-up headlights, bumper, hood and front fenders are very well alligned. You sure know how to pick the good ones. :)

ummm Two questions. 1 Where do you live? Cause that looks like the exact car i was gonna buy up here in boston like 2 years ago.

and two wheres the pics of the driver lol

And as for the mechanical problems. Dont bother overhauling that quadrajet. Get an Edelbrock 600 carb, or a Holley. and while youe at it ya might wanna get a new intake too. But then agian im all about performance over daily driveability. lol Rear brakes are easy enough. Muffler? BAH Who needs em! and the frot end work, could be small, could be big.

I live in Texas. I have been seeing a lot of Transams lately that have the gold on the botton.

hmmm. a pic of the driver huh? Driver is shy. LOL

the exhaust system needs to be fixed. The car is expelling 5x more carbon monoxide than it should... would fail the emissions test right now.

the muffler does nothing for emmissions, only for sound. Your catalytic converter is prolly shot, and the car is running Very Lean. get the carb checked. and retuned if you arent gonna get a new one.

nope!,nope!....all wrong!....get the a new cat and a flow master muffler!,Its truly worth the dough!....and you'll pass every time and get the oil changed and have rislone added before the oil is put in & a new air filter and you'll pass especailly if the gas tank is 3/4 full! with no problems and the emissions guy will think your car is totally brand new! :kittspin:

and what ever you do?....do not add any kinda of fuel additives!!!!...it will just makes thing far more worse!

Pay no attention to these guys, Knight Girl. Have the engine converted to a turbine engine, Super Pursuit Mode hydrolics complete with rocket boosters, and have the fuel converted to Liquid Hydrogen!

Now theres an Idea. I always thought fuel additives made the fuel burn more cleaner after a fill up?
