Why not just host the video, that way everyone can see it. If you don't have your own site, I'm sure someone would be kind enough to host it for you.

If someone can host it, then please step forward. It's a 4.4MB .mov file.

Just had an e-mail response from hlj.com with regards to my large pre-order:

We're very sorry, but the stock we received of the two Aoshima Knight
Rider cars sold out while your order was waiting for future-release
items. Aoshima has discontinued the two Knight Rider cars now, so we have stopped accepting any more new orders for them. These items will appear as "future release" in your account information in the Account
Maintenance system because we have stopped accepting new orders for them but are keeping your order on file as we try to get more stock to fill it.

....so in a nutshell if you've placed an order with hlj.com for either the Aoshima-spec KITT or KARR and its not been processed, then its not looking good. I know I placed my order late, but you would assume that the reason they re-opened the pre-orders was because they could get more stock in. I'm now seriously worried that my other items won't be processed either, looking at their pre-order policy.

All is not lost though - pop into ModelZone in London and pick up and ERTL KITT.

It looks as if K.A.R.R. is a real rarity and all sold out even in Asia. The few that are available on eBay go for $99.00, plus an additional $28.00 for air mail shipping. I know paying roughly $130.00 for this model seems absurd, but given the rarity of the car, does anybody think this price to pay is worth it? Ertl has said that they are looking into producing their version later next year, but who knows which people, if any, know what they're talking about at this point. Every retailer and distributor gives different release dates, now some say they are discontinued, etc. There seem to be no solid facts from anybody. Maybe these should be nabbed as soon as possible??

To be honest, I was NEVER that interested in the KARR model to begin with. It's really just the same Trans Am, only with that silver stripe on the bottom and the white lettering on the tires, which looks really shabby to me. The Ertl KITT looks really superb from all the pictures of it I've seen. I never cared about the orange fog lamps either. All I've cared about is that Ertl is releasing KITT period. Some how I knew Aoshima wouldn't pull through the way Ertl seems to be doing thus far. I think it's cool that Ertl is also releasing a regular version of the 1982 Trans Am later in 2005. :D

The video was hosted by someone at the Knight Rider UK forums - if you want to see it, head over there.

Why does Knight Rider seem to be so popular in Japan?

If you post a link to the forum thread, I don't believe Nick will mind. Otherwise, you can email me the file as well and I will host it here too.

Probably better to link to the thread:

Otherwise direct linking can unfairly swamp bandwidth from the hoster.

Argh! I wanted to get my little sister a KITT for Christmas! She asked for one...(or a KARR, and she has no blessed clue about model releases or what-not...she just likes watching KR with her big sister.)

Just my luck...have to go on-line and hunt one down, I suppose. Oh well...she shall have a KR Christmas, if I have to go out a buy a Trans-Am...er...or at least some KR videos.

Fellow Torontonian!

Well, one place is always Carbuffs at Square One in Mississauga or North Star Hobbies & Collectables on Dundas, west of Dixie in Mississauga. Otherwise, I have ordered at the Canadian site located in British Columbia http://www.scale18.com/cgi-bin/page?a=diecast.html. Although their prices are listed in US dollars, their conversion rate is excellent.

But don't run around just yet. KITT has yet to surface. This also goes for the Back To The Future - Part III DeLorean. Like KITT, the Delorean was supposed to show up in October/November 2004, but it's still a no show.

Guys...If you can purchase the ERTL KITT in ebay for less than US$35.00, including shipping, then GO FOR IT! Don't take a chance, the stores are not reliable with their orders. The place I bought from is still sold out.

Regarding the Aoshima KARR, its really not just a retooled clone of KITT. It does offer the silver paint and yellow scanner. This may probably be our last chance of acquiring one in this scale. If you have the money right now, buy it for US$99.00 in ebay (excluding shipping). The model's rarity clearly justifies its price tag as of now. We don't even know if ERTL is making KARR in the future, so for those with the resources to spare, get KARR NOW.
