Anyway, I know I shouldn't speculate but all this is too exciting.

We're actually getting something we've all wanted for a very long time and got an even better dvd that surpasses our expectations which can't be bad.

I forgot where I read this but I think Glen Larson went to kindergarten and the first few years of elementry school children and asked what would they like to see. Most said buttons with cool lights, meters and stuff. So I think thats where the dash idea cam up.I also saw a video clip somewhere that said that the first 2 season dashes were getting too common in vehicles today so they decided to revamp it and thats where the third and fourth season dash came up.I wish I saved the articles where I read them or the vid clip I saw.

No.. unfortunately.. That technology wasn't around in those days as you're no doubt aware. They will be presented in the original mono and 2.0 Stereo soundtracks..

Mr. Payner, we have the technology to still remix old mono sources into 5.1 surround, however, depending on the age of the material, it often sounds strained, forced and not natural.

I am willing to bet that the results would sound flat unless they added in completely new effects which would ruin the experience for me.

I'm glad they are leaving in the original sound format.

About the Audio commentary.

how do they work it out before hand what they are going to say ??
or to indeed fit it in??

Do you think they have a script to work to??

In the past, the commentaries that I have listened to, the commentators sit in front of the playing movie and comment on what they see on the screen. It is usually completely unscripted, and consists of the commentators talking about whatever comes to mind after a particular event in the movie jogs their memory. Usually its about why they did something a certain way, the fight they had to go through to film, casting choices, how effects were done, and sometimes on the boring ones they point out which extras in the scene are relatives.

Intrseting, thank's Neps.

alough as silly as it might sound, just sitting and talking for the around 1 and a half hours, I think it may not be a simple as it sounds.

I don't think I could myself, but some people would get along with it ok.

Sometimes, the commentator actually prepares notes before they commentate on the film/program because they see it as a better method of preperation and usually with these commentaries, you rarely get silences but then the listener doesn't exactly feel that the commentator is using his imagination enough and so it can feel like a bit of a cop out.

But I'm glad the Larson/Hasselhoff commentary sounds natural.
