The tires are the improved ones- same as used on the KARR.

That model is another prototype of the Special Edition. Though you can't see it in those pics- this one again has the electronics inside it. Similar to last year- this has working headlights/ foglights/ taillights/ interior, as well as sound f/x and speech. This model improves over last years as the electronics are inside KITT (last years they were inside the trailer and wired to KITT- making it non removable from the trailer) This one is removable and the base is used to recharge KITT.

Hot Wheels Elite tweeted to say that they shipped from the factory about a month a go (16th Feb to be precise).
From memory it's normally 4-6 weeks after that they start to arrive at retailers (in Europe at least), so they should be due in the next week or two I'd imagine.

Any word on the release yet? Seems to be taking it's time to hit retailers.

The Super Elite KITT is also due out this month according to Entertainment Earth but they have been saying that since February.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Awesome to see those little details being given attention on these models, like the silver wheel wells and the rear bumper being black at the top. Looking great.

Tires look much better, even if too skinny.

When is the KITT coming out? It was supposed to be June but looking like August at the earliest!

Forgive me if this is old news, but I gotta say that it seems like a real challenge to get batteries back in for the scanner to work. Does anybody else have this problem?

I bought the 1/18 Elite Karr from a third party seller on Amazon.
I also have the Kitt model, but this one is missing the zip tie that hold the hood & trunk, and it doesn't the protective pad that was in back seat.
I'm just wondering if this is normal ?
Thanks.

Just got my K.A.R.R. in the mail tonight. Overall, awesome model with amazing detail. Took a bit to figure out that he has to be unscrewed from the styrofoam and the T-tops can be a bit tricky to snap in at first. The wheels seem perfectly fine to me—they even have the Pontiac logos just like the Aoshima models! Very pleased with the fog light placement and even for the fact that there's fog lights at all.
My one and only grievance? The scanner. It's AMBER/ORANGE, NOT YELLOW!!!!!!!!! The trail effect is absolutely awesome, if only it weren't only visible from a top view. It shouldn't be blurred. It should show each individual bulb head-on with the trail effect. Close enough.

I punched in the name of this thread into ebay and this listing came back for KITT...right along with a half dozen or so KARR's.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HOT-WHEELS-ELIT ... 234af6ce15
Now, my mind can't help but wonder if Ben Heck (electronic's modification guy on YouTube) were to get his hands on one of these...what he could do. Perhaps, micro LCD's on the dash to make it come alive? Tiny drive motor to make it 'Vrooom' across the shop floor? Remote mike for voice?
