I was reading a wikipedia article about bubble memory, the type KITT had and it kind of makes sense as this type of memory has no mechanical moving parts as ordinary hard disk and therefore could take the stress of Turboboost landings etc

Also when KITT got destroyed, Bonnie said that only few shreads were left of KITT's memory banks and as bubble memory keeps the information even without power, this makes also sense why Bonnie was perhaps able to save some information from destroyed KITT.
Pretty interesting read

I keep thinking that Kitt's hard drive contents, memory,is always backed up to the semis computers either daily or weekly then thats sent to the foundation's baks.I always thought that the shreds of memory Bonnie recovered with what was already on file she was able to bring 95% of kitt back.
