How can the colour look cheap? It's just black paint?

You can tell both of these from online photos?? Or do you actually have one in hand?DiggiDiDuck wrote:Even the color and quality looks very cheap

Re: Sneak Peek of New Hot Wheels 1/18 KITT!!
i think the model on the whole is excellent and a worthy addition to any fan collection
my question...why has no designer of any model devised a car with a season 3-4 dashboard?i for one have been torn over which dash i prefer even after 30 years i still find myself siding with one dash or the other but at the moment the season 3-4 edges out in front...just think it looks cleaner and neater but anyway i digress...
in all the models produced onone has made one with the later dash is it a question of copyright?
going on the accuracy of the hot wheels dash its possible to build a very accurate 3-4 dash....
if a super pursuit mode model or even a convertable KITT was produced(again any fan would snap them up in an instant)they would have to have the corrrect dash....
any thoughts chap and chappets?

Enclosed I point out what I mean.
That is a close up of the tire from the new pictures The other side of the model looks much better: Hope you get my point!

Re: Sneak Peek of New Hot Wheels 1/18 KITT!!
None of the other car models in the Hot Wheels Elite line, as far as I know, has letters on the tires unless they need to be visible like the ones on the A-Team van and the DeLorean Time Machine. So I'm sure KITT will remain the way it is with those plain black and blank tires. If you look at all the other cars from Hot Wheels Elite, you will see that they are all mostly plain black tires. >>>> http://www.hotwheels-elite.com
And the tires not being mounted properly is just a normal manufacturing error. Pretty sure the tires can be adjusted so that it will align with the wheel.

Re: Sneak Peek of New Hot Wheels 1/18 KITT!!
There were in fact some models made with the Season 3/4 dashboard that has already been made in the past. The Aoshima 1/43 KITT had that dash. So did the model kits Aoshima did of the season 3 and 4 KITT and SPM KITT All of which had the Season 3/4 1-tv dashpeterp&j wrote:i think the model on the whole is excellent and a worthy addition to any fan collection

Hey Neil. Has Mattel stated the production numbers of these? For being two months late you would think they up it lol. Was they held over in the LA Harbor strike?

Re: Sneak Peek of New Hot Wheels 1/18 KITT!!
Its delayed probably because they were trying to make some improvements on the model. Too bad the tires weren't fixed. I highly doubt they would increase or change the production numbers.. According to their website, its limited to no more than 10,000 pieces... >>> http://www.hotwheels-elite.com/model-ca ... ousand.phpMR2NR wrote:neps wrote:Sorry - updated the previous post, here is the url again: http://knightrideronline.com/merch/hotw ... _large.zip" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Sneak Peek of New Hot Wheels 1/18 KITT!!
Thanks for the high-res photos, the 18th scale model looks great! It has many details done by the factory which I had to do myself for the ERTL KITT model, also some which weren't even possible like the popup headlights.
Tyre being slightly out of the rim looks like easy fix, just push the tyre to be in level with the rim. Have seen this happening in 1/43 models from other manufacturers too.
I want the 18th scale and 43rd scale KITT's as soon as they're available here in EU online shops

What happen with those fenders of Firebird models? They need to be more curved.

So, what's the deal with the covers over the fog lights? Did KITT ever look like that?
Other than that, everything about this looks great to me. I have one preordered!

I'm not a KITT expert but I think the model is based off the season 1 cardaroga28 wrote:So, what's the deal with the covers over the fog lights? Did KITT ever look like that?
see these pics I snapped from season 1, you can see the covers in front of fog lights

Re: Sneak Peek of New Hot Wheels 1/18 KITT!!
I was watching Forget Me Not, tonight and noticed this, on one side the panel is broken,
they appear to be using a few different cars as KITT, some have the cover over the lights and some it is blocked off.

Yes.. Its a pretty known fact that they used a lot of different cars for different scenes throughout the series. And yes, the grilles for the foglights is how kitt was in season 1.

Re: Sneak Peek of New Hot Wheels 1/18 KITT!!
Awesome! Did they sneak that out of the factory or something? Its even slightly cheaper than the price the local shop I ordered from will sell it atMrSmith wrote:Well they can't be that far away as they are starting to hit ebay:

Re: Sneak Peek of New Hot Wheels 1/18 KITT!!
I suspect so,
There seems to be a bit of a trend lately with HotWheels stuff turning up on ebay a few weeks or a month before it is actually out in the stores, the items always seem to be from Hong Kong or Malaysia (where HotWheels are made)
I guess the workers get paid rather poorly so they help themselves to some stuff to earn a bit on the side.
Still the 1:18 KITT can't be that far away.

Re: Sneak Peek of New Hot Wheels 1/18 KITT!!
....I just had another thought,
Maybe they are factory seconds and get rejected from the production line?
Maybe factory seconds are supposed to be thrown out or destroyed and the workers take them home?
who knows!

I saw those ones from HK on eBay too, as well as one USA listing from Illinois. The USA listing has an estimated delivery date of March 6th or 7th, compared to February 6th and 12th.
