Heavens how did you find that one? I can see people standing on that step now, recalling that special moment.

Re: Locations ?
In the last scene of the episode, you can see the address number of the building. So I googled "10978 apartment california" and it was one of the first results!

Re: Locations ?
Hey, I was trying to find the filming locations of the beginning of KOTJ. Look at this:
Note that building in the red square. I googled "red tower in chicago" and I get the CNA center. I
found it on Bing maps and I was moving round about the building, so I can find out, from which side is the spike roof building. When I found it, I looked at this:
That small house near to the water, that's here: http://goo.gl/PcD8r
Can anyone find the exact location of the guard booth, which was destroyed?

BINGO - look on the corner of "S Michigan Avenue". Says on the map, Encyclopdea Britannia. Hope that helps us find that road.....pOWER wrote:Hey, I was trying to find the filming locations of the beginning of KOTJ. Look at this:

Do you think they filmed it when building this road - think I have found pretty much the exact spot.

That's amazing! I think that's it! But I would let other forum members to comment before we closed this case, right?

Re: Locations ?
Definitely. Leave this open, as there are so many other locations people want to find, and it's an amazing thread for others to read through.
The way I found that one was to use Bing Birds Eye, and spotted the pointed building, then looked roughly from the camera angle, and there was that road, that does look relative modern. So it may be that they used it while it was being built; in the same way that the movie Speed used a new freeway/motorway for many scenes.
Incidentially, the Speed scene where the bus jumps the gap....wasn't in fact a gap but a little CGI!
(off topic but felt like saying it)

Re: Locations ?
Actually I wonder if this is the spot.... looks to be move closer to it, unless the film lens used makes it seem like this.
But it would help if there was a shot after it ramed thru that 'hut'.

Re: Locations ?
The House of the Rising Sun seems to be the elusive unicorn. I've been hunting it up for the last few months myself. I don't know what you guys are using to search for it, but I'm an architectural major and that building is what's known as "A-Frame" architecture. It is mostly used in the construction of restaurants, lodges, and residential homes. The House of the Rising Sun also has some Japanese architecture elements to it as well. Here is an example of some types of A-Frame architecture:
I found that photo in someone's blog who says it's abandoned near Baker, CA.
Here is another that is a liquor store:
This building is also in California, though I don't remember where. Obviously none of these are the correct building, but maybe they can offer some clues in the search such as styling cues. I'd almost bet that since this building is used in Knight Rider and Automan...it's probably in some other shows as well. I'd swear I've seen it in MacGyver somewhere. I have all 7 seasons, so I need to go back through and see if I can find it and see if there is a better view of it.

Re: Locations ?
By the way, this thread is amazing. I finally went through all 31 pages of this over the last couple of days and I'm amazed at all the research and work that has gone into finding all these locations. You guys are awesome. I need to go back and watch some more episodes and see if I can find some more locations that haven't been found yet! This is really cool.

The scenes depicted in above pictures were filmed during the reconstruction project to straighten out the section of Lake Shore Drive between Randolph St and Monroe St.
The scenes were filmed using the northbound side of Lake Shore Drive, though the vehicles shown are traveling southbound.
The location in the second picture is along the beginning of the northbound exit ramp to Randolph St. The first picture location is just south of that.

Re: Locations ?
Time for a few new locations!
"Chariot of Gold" - the final chase sequence between K.I.T.T. and Deauville.
Ruether Ave & Soledad St.
Canyon Country, CA
And here's the map of the chase:
From "Fright Knight" and "Ring of Fire" - the barn
Universal Studios backlot
Universal City, CA
To the immediate left of the barn is a "mexican town" that was used for the Knight Rider/Diff'rent Strokes episode "Hooray for Hollywood":

That Mexican town wasn't used in the famous Knight Rider Episode that had the "ghost kitt auto driver" is it?
Do you have a highlevel pic of that location in the Backlot as I cannot spot it. Is it near Psycho, or the Square?

Re: Locations ?
A New location question:
White Line Warriors....
Where is that street where the shop is?
What building was used for the KCPY radio station? It's quite distinctive as it looks slightly mexican with the softened corners of the walls, all painted.
I think the location of the cliff scene is on here, tho difficult to really pinpoint exactly.
Oh, and I saw a few moments in it today where he revs up the car, but the dash lights don't move at all.
Was the 'Hero Car' ever one that had NO working lights? As I am sure I saw lights working in other 2-dash episodes.

If you looked at this from the opposite angle, would you see the cave and the rubble that Kitt supposedly turboed into to get to the crystal cave?Sue wrote:
