uk channel has picked up the rights to show knight rider

Post by ianruk » Wed Sep 09, 2009 7:32 pm

Fiver has acquired the rights to air Knight Rider

do you think they will be showing the old knight rider from the 80's? or the kr08?

also i found this interesting about it

Fiver's Jeff Ford said of the deals: "I am delighted that this autumn we will have an exciting and fun lineup of new and exclusive shows for our Fiver audience that truly reflects the change in attitude and energy of the channel'

if they show the knight rider from the 80's and si-fi already shown the new knight rider 08 then it cant be new or exclusive

any thoughts???

I'm assuming since Sci-Fi (UK) showed the season finale of the new Knight Rider this week,
and the fact the regular channel "FIVE" (originally known as Channel 5) aired all but S4 of
the original series on Saturday mornings about 10 years ago, I'd guess "FIVER" would be
airing the new series, rather than the the old one. Or maybe they've got both.

Having said that, since the new KR is still a fairly new series, (despite there being little or
no prospect of a 2nd season anytime soon, if at all) I'd have thought their other spin-off
channel, "FIVE USA", would be a more suitable channel for the new KR series. The most
popular shows on "FIVER" are the Australian soaps "Neighbours" and "Home & Away",
as it's a channel geared more towards female and teenage viewers.

Eitherway, FIVER is available on Freeview (no subscriptions) ... Sci-Fi isn't.

Since Fiver is terrestrial tv, perhaps they are "testing" the waters and they want more of an accurate number of people who would watch the show and providing the numbers are high, make a second season?

Wishful thinking on my part, of course.

KR08 picked up by Fiver(UK)

Post by Drifty » Fri Sep 11, 2009 3:29 pm

Hi all,

Just thought I'd let you all know that after being shown on Sci-Fi, KR is will be aired on Fiver in the UK. I believe this is available on Freeview, but I've not checked. I heard about this in The Sun newspapers TV Biz section in thurs 10 Sept edition. No dates listed, but maybe ratings from a more widespread channel could help? And keep your scanners peeled for the episodes on there

I will attach a scan tomorrow confirming this unless confirmed by other users.

KR08 comes to 'Freeview' in UK Sept 24th

Post by pheonix_knight » Sat Sep 12, 2009 1:31 pm

Dunno if this has already been posted by other UK contributors but KR08, having just finished its run on 'Sci Fi' channel on cable/satellite is now coming to 'Fiver', a channel available to those who do not have cable/satellite but who do have freeview...

Think its on at 8pm

It great, as I can now watch the full season when it starts. I don't have sky or anything like that. It also means I can wait for the price to come down on the box set.

Just saw the advert right now on fiver. All they did was show an incorrectly 'strobing' pink square and played the wrong song. But it said 'new series', so I'm assuming it's the new version.

My little brother has just told me that he's seen the advert for KNIGHT RIDER 2008 being advertised on a Freeview channel in the U.K. This must be it. When does it start ?

That article must be a little old or Fiver must have changed the dates.

Its official start time is 8PM on Thursday 24th September beginning with the 2hr pilot movie :good:

New Channel showing Knight Rider

Post by jgcoombes » Fri Sep 18, 2009 5:38 pm

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/broadcastin ... fiver.html

Fiver (UK CHANNEL) has acquired the rights to air Knight Rider, The City and 10 Things I Hate About You.

Additionally, the network has inked deals with DCD-owned September Films to screen Bridezilla, a reality series centred around brides-to-be who are determined to have their perfect wedding.

Also arriving on Fiver later this year is the second series of The Sexy Ad Show, fronted by comedian Spencer Brown.

Fiver's Jeff Ford said of the deals: "I am delighted that this autumn we will have an exciting and fun lineup of new and exclusive shows for our Fiver audience that truly reflects the change in attitude and energy of the channel."

Starts Thu 24 Sep 2009, 8pm on Fiver - Sky 176

Knight Rider on Fiver UK

Post by Stuntman Lee » Sat Sep 19, 2009 12:10 pm

I don't know if this has already been reported (apologies if it has) but i've just quickly glimped a tv ad for the new Knight Rider series that will be shown on Fiver in the UK.

Fiver is available free on digital tv unlike SCi-Fi channel, so it might win some more supporters.

**update**

It's on Thursday 24th September at 8pm.

OK is anyone absolutely certain that is this UK channel and not NBC/Universal is that own the production/distribution rights of K.R? Can anyone verify this.
One thing even if it's true it might take at least 3 or 4 years before we see a 2nd season of KR08 because of all the commitments the former cast is now in in TV shows, movies, the works and even then there is no guarantee all of the main cast will be back.
