New KI3T diecast car with scanner

Post by iphoneowner » Wed Apr 08, 2009 10:00 am

Hello, I have a diecast GT500KR from Shelby Collectibles, but something happened to it. So, I have been seeing a lot of Youtube videos with people getting GT500KR's and removing the SHELBY and adding either a scanner or red paint to the hood scoops. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could buy one of these cars. All Google has is the stock KR's.

Thanks,
iphoneowner :D :kitt2:

There are custom made by the ppl who has those cars. If could ask if u can buy their car.

Shelby Collectibles was going to make a Knight Rider car(and Attack Mode) but due to some trademark laws, they didnt produce it.

None of them come with Knight Rider modifications, those cars are all custom made by their owners. Maybe someday if things take off they will but for right now you can only get the diecast car in stock form.

What a sham!! How should give such approval to make the model? Image :kitt:

Rumours where that if it makes it to season 2, then licencing for models could be released, but only if season 2 gets produced.

I am working on a 1:64th K3000 (the size of a matchbox car). It won't have a light up scanner because it's just too damned small but I am going to tweek the interior and unlike other attempts I am stripping off the letters on the hood and back end. (I know shocking isn't it?)

Here's a trick for you car customizers out there (although I'm sure you die hards already know this). If you want to get the SHELBY letters off the hood, try dipping a q-tip in paint thinner or nail polish remover and gently swapping over each letter, then just use a twisted up kleenex to buff out each letter. It worked beautifully for my 1:64th and it doesn't damage the black gloss paint beneath.

It is important that you don't leave the thinner on too long or it will damage your black paint beneath, you just want to dissolve the first silver layer of each letter so make sure you only keep the thinner on there for a couple seconds or so then buff out the letters.

This trick will work on the front of the Shelby and the rear, but in the case of the rear you will only get the S and Y off, the others will have to be removed and painted back over with flat black where the stripes are.

I want to have the first accurate 1:64th K3000.

I may also attempt a 1:64th backdoor pilot Attack KITT and a 1:18 with the double spoiler.

Here's mine, it's complete except the dash globe as it was too small to easily add.

Nice work, did you paint the inside as well? How about a photo of the back end?

I painted the seat and door centres red, and silver along the dash, as for rear just removed the SHELBY.
