As a fan of KR for 25 years....

Post by DevonStyles » Thu Sep 25, 2008 8:07 pm

I can say a little knight rider is better then no knight rider. :kitt:

First episode I can honestly say I did not care for. It had a couple cool point but that's it. The second episode looks more promising from the teaser.

I realise that it is a different era so to speak from the 80's but I think the new knight rider is too far out there.

The original worked because it spoke to new technology, but it was still somewhat believable. Futeristic dash and the car could jump and drive by itself. That's enough to hook any kid. Good hearted stories made family nights and knight rider go hand in hand. In the beginning episodes their was a bit of mystery as michael and kitt were getting to know eachother. As it stands now the first episode kitt and mike tracer are working togther like they have been partners for 5 years.

I coulden't figure out if I was watching knight rider or James Bond.

I was starting to think the morphing was cool but the transformations have got to go. I think it is to far out there in conjunction with everyday life. Sure transformers worked because we know that it's make believe. They are robots from another planet. What purpose do the transformations serve. None that I can tell of. Just a little eye candy. I'm sure that it will hook some kids of todays generation. I think the show should be more about the relationsip between mike and kitt. The eye candy will fall into place when it is not shoved down our throats.

The original worked because the car chase scenes were actually about the car chase scene. Mike tracer is in a high speed chase and he is more interested in communicating on the screen. It did not seem that he was even concentrating on the high speed chase.

As far as the glove box surgery center.... Gotta go. Let's not jump the shark quite yet...

I felt the pilot was done much better then the first episode. The chase scenes were cool and believable. Their was a bit of mystery about the car. There was some cool scenes.

As far as the first episode goes To many characters were introduced. Their needs to be a core crew that are concentrated on. The one guy listed all his impressive college degrees and he looks 21 years old. Make me believe guys!!!

Michael long... Sounds like a porn star.... lol That was funny.

If this show is gonna work it need to be beliveable. but at the end of the day what do I know.... I've only been watching knight rider for 25 years...

I agree with the second episode, it looks much more promising and I think the episode was fast paced and put like this to shove everything into one hour. When I saw the preview for the new episode next week, it honestly reminded me of the old school KR previews with the whole stolen stuff and a race he has to infiltrate and he is also finally one man and KITT, I prefer that instead of this team.

We will all know what this series truly is going to look like after the second episode. You all know that this coming episode was really supposed to be the third? Given the switcheroo, there is no story arcs yet they plan on digging deep into. I hope it's not rushed now....my biggest concern.

While I would much rather prefer the tone of the series be more in line with the original KR, I like the idea that Mike & KITT have a team backing them up. Much like Bonnie and Devon (man, I miss Devon a lot), they can be a part of the show without being the show.

Yea I think the show will have many seperate story lines involving all the characters. Not just michael and Kitt. Kinda like a soap opera. 5 different stories within one episode.

I believe that this series is doing to the old KITT what the new 007's are doing to the old 007's, remaking the old scripts for a new era. Just look at the title of the first 08 episode it was the same title used in the 80's version. The next episode reminds me of Knights in the Fastlane.

Granted the 007's with Craig are supposedly based on books that Ian Flemming wrote in his early years. The Brosnan films had a lot of the old story lines in them. Kind of like the new series of KITT seems to be going that way as well.

I watched and DVR'd it then and again tonight at 7pm on SciFi.

Yes the Turbo Boost looked something more out of Back to the Future 2 than KITT, but you could say the same about KITT's abilities in the 80's being far fetched as well at times.

I wouldn't call this series as having "soap opera" tendancies, but possibly closer to a 24 series with all of the characters behind the scene's. And different story lines for each character.

This series has a lot of different TV show eliments in it such as the transformation which was introduced to us in Viper. Granted to go to a different type of car the Defender had a hologram projector which would cloke the car into looking like a sedan instead of the Defender. This option would be great on KITT as well I think. The plane idea came from Team Knight Rider and the team of operatives in the KITT cave reminds me of 24.

Didn't KITT transform in season 4 three times? From the SPM mode to the hard top convertable, back to the car? Again no seams to mention. So what's the big deal with this far fetched idea of KITT transforming into different vehicles?

Considering how much technology in the world of Knight Rider should have progressed, at least in Knight Industries and the stuff they just don't let out to the public. It should have a similar curve as to what it has in the real world.
The new and again improved evil's advertisement is currently too long and too badass to display here. But let's just say that with now 50% more evil, this **** is great! :skar:

Just wondering how did you feel in chariots of gold when you saw Michael pull out kitt's blood analyzer? To think a needle would be in that metalic bracelet as the only way that he could see what's in hi bloodstream and in a car of all places for medical technology.

I was thinking of the medical compartment today thinking that only a limb can go into that area like feet and hands but that's about it.

honestly I would say that is MUCH MORE BELIEVABLE then someone cutting off a body part and seeing NO BLOOD. C'mon now... I'm sure we could come up with all kinds of senerios but to cut of a limb with no blood it totally silly.

What is in Kitt's glove box? robotic arms?
