seeker78: I disagree about that the car should be "made in USA", i think "USA make" is better. And now you're suggesting Mitsubishi Eclipse, which is Japanese make but made in USA, it sounds like Mitsubishi Eclipse is more American car than Chevrolet Camaro, which sounds horrible. I prefer Camaro than Mustang, because both of them is "USA make", but Camaro is GM, besides Camaro is Trans Am's twin. And i don't mind K.I.T.T. being boxy if it's Camaro. And there's no more "USA make" cars left that could be new K.I.T.T. So i'm not set myself for only "USA make" or "made in USA", i think some of the Japanese cars could be new K.I.T.T., for example Lexus IS-F, LF-A, however, i prefer "USA make" cars, but i'm not against Japanese cars. I'm from Europe, but i can't see K.I.T.T. in any European car, except SAAB Aero-X (but don't have backseat and is concept) and Jaguar. I prefer K.I.T.T. being one of Cadillac's than yours suggesting Chevrolet Cobalt, because Cadillacs has elegancy which ones don't have Cobalt.

the PONTIAC RAGEOUS- AN AMERICAN DESIGNED PROTOTYPE, BUILT IN USA.......that says it all....!
IF Y' ALL WOULD TAKE A MOMENT & REMEMBER...THE T/A -{ KARR - KITT } was american built & modified...as result of KR....sales went thru the roof for GM, for a time.....this also happened to GM as result of the "Bandit" and
Chryslers stock- re-investment value of vintage Mopars spiked upwards for & as direct result of the impact of
"Dukes of Hazzard"....classic mopars were scooped up/salvaged/bought/sold,rebuilt/traded....& t'was not just Chargers either.... yeh, some mopar designs were mfg'd in canda back then in the 70s...hell, V Ws & Dodge ramchargers-Powerwagons (like full size k5 chevy blazers ) ARE STILL USEDby DEA/BORDER PATROL down in Mexico!
the F body was built in Continental America & some components were/are mfg'd overseas & copied here in USA.
Russia, Japan,Germany copied US designed ships, tanks, etc in WWII & modifed them...suffice to say,we-the USA copied/modified stuff too, jets, rockets,subs,tanks,etc... the vette dsign we all know =post 59= is a cpoied, tweaked design form Lotus,Ferrari,lamborghini,Jaguar,etc...
now back to fantasy.....
the K.I-2000 is a unique prototype.....

This is my exact car right down to the tinted windows and rims, and even I say it should never be K.I.T.T.! However, I will say that when I bought the car I chose the color black as being inspired by you know what...seeker78 wrote:here is a mitsubishi eclipse it's a front wheel drive sports car according to wikipedia and it is made in the usa.

And by the way, seriously, man, CHANGE THE RECORD!!

The last time I found a "Made in the U.S.A." tag, I kept it. Those seem to be very rare. Not sure what it was once attached to.

I'm not 100% sure about this but I think I saw this car tonight in silver.I was thinking wow a new type of sports car. That would really make a good kitt.

It's really frustrating that so many cars currently coming from The Big Three are so boxy...and the ones that are not either don't have a backseat or are not marketed as being high performance...even that chevy volt concept....man that thing looks like a brick on wheels...I still say that I'm not sure how much that marketing (of chevy cobalt etc.) really matters among non-car enthusiasts like myself. The Cobalt SS Supercharged is considered by GM to be a relatively fast car, and the main difference between it and a baseline Cobalt is power plant. and people DO race FWD cars (especially the Mitsubishi Eclipse). but whatever.
For some reason I seem to be in the minority in thinking that the Camaro Concept is boxy in front. In all honesty, in Transformers, when I saw that car I did not think "that's KITT". I just saw a yellow, boxy looking sports car, nothing particularly impressive about it. In my opinion, it does look similar in back, but in front it's basically a squashed, widened Mustang GT500KR. Do the rest of you guys think of that concept camaro as being KITT because it's called a Camaro? Just imagine in your mind that the current Mustang is called Camaro...does that magically make it look less boxy??? To me boxy is boxy...calling it camaro doesn't change that, neither does the history of the model of car.
Now, the 2001 Camaro, THAT looked much more like KITT. But that's also true of the 2000 Mustang, the 2000 Mustang also looked a lot more like the 1982 Pontiac Trans Am than does the current Ford Mustang GT500KR.

Yeah man, it would. I think that prototype came out a while back though. 1997.I'm not 100% sure about this but I think I saw this car tonight in silver.I was thinking wow a new type of sports car. That would really make a good kitt.

Re: My vision of new K.I.T.T.
I agree the Camero Concept is boxy too but you keep suggesting generic family cars that has the same basic design as a dozen other cars when it comes to look with the bubble (or half oval or whatever) like top over the interior.. They just scream "family" driver. It just doesn't look cool enough to be KITT. I will say the Rageous does look pretty cool but the body color probably helps that, I'd like it in a metallic green
, too bad it's never the cool looking cars that make it past concept.....
I almost went to Gary Scott Thompson levels of over using the word "cool".

I wonder how many would even bother saying that if it didn't have the air intake opening in the front.

Look around, there's a dozen post probably on the first few pages discussing the car issue and why using a five year old car isn't feasible today.
I think it could be feasible if somebody on board of the KR projects could use their imaginations. For example, when they did the Dukes of Hazzard movie, the people involved knew that the General Lee was the star. Some of the people involved with that movie got on E-Bay and bought 25 Chargers that were around the years of 1968-1971 and converted them to the 69 Charger that we all know as the General Lee. And what about Starsky and Hutch, they still used a red and white Gran Torino in that movie, and they quit making those cars a long time ago. I like the picture of the black T/A that was in this thread. To me it is the most logical. Because, as most people in the world associate the General Lee with a 69 Charger, the same amount of people probably connect KITT to a Trans Am. Just my opinion.
