Knight Rider S1 DVD Commentary

Post by KnightGTP » Sun Apr 06, 2008 6:14 pm

I was watching the Commentary on the dvd and it was at times funny and interresting and other times boring. It was like Hoff and Larson had nothing to say. There was also a few awkard times where Hoff would bring up doing a movie and wanting to be in it and Larson would either not respond or change the topic. It was like Larson wants nothing to do with the Hoff(as in the movie).. Anyone else get this vibe? I love how Hoff loves Knight Rider as much as the fans. He gives back where alot of stars hate what got them where they are. Anyone listen to it?

I'm not going to get into the unspoken tension between Larson and Hasselhoff because it has been discussed on this site ad infinitum, but I will say that I think both of them have a great sense of humor.

Glen Larson: "I decided to make the villains females like they are in real life."

David Hasselhoff: "Hi, I'm David Hasselhoff. I was created by Glen Larson."

Neither one of them had watched the pilot in some time. I think commentaries work better if the participants do their homework. I also got the impression Glen had little to do with KR outside of the pilot so the two couldn't get into the nuts and bolts of the series. I also think it helps if they have some discussion before hand of what they are going to discuss. It felt like they were stuck in a room and just watched the pilot.

I think it could have been much better.

I think Larson felt pressured by Hasselhoff to do the movie quickly & the way he (David) felt it should go.
When I spoke to David back in april of 2006 he said more than once (we) as in he & Larson are producing the movie through the Wienstien Company.
It was sometime later that we all found out that David will in no way be in the theatrical movie & had to settle for
NBC's so called continuation.
Basically I a sense that David & Glen had a parting of the ways, even with the nervous humor in the commentary.
In one way its kind of unfortunate for fans to not have David in the movie but that is Glens call , because he
holds the rights to Knight Rider the movie.
Hopefully this will continue the franchise the right way because NBC is in my opinion is losing a big part of fans & that includes me.

Yea I watched the commentary, it did seem like Larson was being a little rude to David. If I remember correctly David was reminiscing about some of the characters and Larson basically told David to stop. Wasn't that what the commentary was for? They did bring up some interesting things like how David was sick for half of the screening and had to keep running to the bathroom. All in all I am happy they even did the commentary. I am a fan of Macgyer and they didn't even put any extras in it
Booonnnnnzzzzaaaaaiii!!!!!!!! As michael turbo boosts to score the extra point. His face is so funny when he yells this and when he hits turbo boost his eyes get huge and he flies back into the seat

Is the Season 1 commentary the only commentary for the whole series?
