Post by scottab21 » Sat Jan 12, 2008 8:23 pm

The car that will be the Knight 3000 is in production and here's the tory with some great pics of the car. Notice where KITT's scanner will be is just a stock part of the car... Interesting... I want one, this thing looks sweet! Here's the link to the story and pics>>>

Well I hope you have fifty eight thousand bucks lying around. Because thats what you are going to shell out for one of those. I don't even want to think about the interest rates or extra insurance that you would have to have on it just to keep the finance company happy.

They are making two types of KR's. One is the regular 650hp GT500KR while there will be a "Super Snake" GT500KR with 750hp I believe with NO WARRANTY, you only get warranty on the regular KR.

You need to give out your sources for your HP numbers because I read differently. Motor Trend, Car & Driver, and Wiki all say the GT500KR gets 540HP. Wiki reads that there will be 2 versions of the Super Snake KR (another $28K+)- one with over 600HP and one with over 725HP, so you must be referring to the Super Snake KRs only.

If you're going to spend that much money on a performance car, the Corvette is a better choice. The 400HP Corvette outperforms the 500HP GT500 as shown by Car & Driver:
http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons ... pedal.html
And they are in the same price range. The KR version only has 40HP more than the regular GT500. And as far as the Super Snake Shelbys, the 2009 Corvette ZR1 will have no problem putting them in the rear view mirror as well! :)
One man did make a difference.

So I guess KITT doesn't have air conditioning according to the pics from motor trend :) Also KITT in the TV show car has the GT interior and not the GT500 interior according to pictures.

Hey, the Corvette is nice, but the GT500KR is the Knight3000. This thing looks really nice, and has the performance to boot! 58k sounds like much, but that price is the fully pimped out version. With the beloved Firebird and Camaro out of production since '02, (I know, the new Camaro won't actually be for sell til' 09???) It's great to have some American made muscle still out on the road, and what a perfect fit for the Knight 3000! Might have to dip into the savings for this one, Shelby just turned 85 and this might be the last one to bear his design and name. The Pony car lives, of course, mine will be solid black... 8)

Don't forget when you buy one of those things that there is probably a gas guzzler tax on the thing too, besides everything else. Nice yes, but why is it when the auto industry does one of these production thing to promote their product with a show, they have to have it priced so high that only 1% of the population can afford it? :?:

The KR in GT500KR stands for King of the Road.....not Knight Rider. The GT500KR came out as an '07 model...before the NBC show was considered for airplay. King of the Road was an option back in the 60's for the Mustang. It's just a coincidence that NBC used the KR for Knight Rider.
KNIGHT RIDER RELOADED is a series of movies on Youtube to represent a different creative avenue to the Knight Rider we knew in 2008-09.

Yea I wrote that wrong, I thought the regular GT500 had 550hp.

The new Corvette cost more, is also around 600 pounds lighter, obviously more aerodynamic and actually has a larger engine. Besides that the Vette is only a two seater so it wouldn't have been an option anyway.

Then there's the Corvette's apparently crappy interior that's mentioned in that but that doesn't matter. :D
The new and again improved evil's advertisement is currently too long and too badass to display here. But let's just say that with now 50% more evil, this **** is great! :skar:

I'd like to clear up some misinformation here.

The Shelby GT500KR is a 2008 model Mustang. It will have 540HP stock. There is no other option for the KR at this point. It will be a coupe and only be available in the following colors:

black
blue
red
silver

There is no official Super Snake KR. The Super Snake option is available to anyone with a GT500 whether it's a KR or a plain GT500. It seems wiki may be incorrect here.

The KR name is for King of the Road, not Knight Rider. Lucky coincidence for NBC. The first GRT500KR came out in 1968.

The styling of the Super Snake does not come from the 1968 KR, it comes from the 1967 GT500 Super Snake which was a test vehicle for Goodyear. There was only one built. It recently sold for $3 million.

Ford recently gave Carroll Shelby the first production KR for his 85th birthday.

Well, i tried to be as thorough as I could. Any mistakes are not my fault. Feel free to ask any other questions.

You're welcome, always happy to spread any Shelby information i can.

I did forget to mention that the 2008 KR is a very limited production vehicle. There will only be about 1000 made and those are being dispersed to Ford dealers through a lottery. There are approximately 4000 Ford dealers in the country so it may be pretty hard to get one of these.

I love the look of the new car... Love the dual scanner theme.... but that steering wheel....
Why is there a "MOMA" logo on it. Shouldn't there be a Knight Industies Logo on it??? That makes it look like an ad campaign....

I would have loved to see KITT appear as the 2009 Camaro. Damn awesome car and it has a slot for the scanner.
