Re: KITT'S NEW FEATURES
did you guys notice that the new KITT is slower 0-60mph than the KI2000 like way slower .2 sec for KI2000 and 1.77sec for KI3000 and it only beats the KI2000 in the 1/4 by .4 sec

To MSKen and Victor, I was only quoting Devon in the pilot episode and I am fully aware of both your points... I was being "humerous"...

Re: KITT'S NEW FEATURES
hey in some interview with the actor who plays the driver of KITT in the new series, they asked him, will this new car have turbo boost and he said "yeah, all that and more" or something along those lines.
I still say if I were making KITT today, it would be some kind of hybrid/hydrogen fuel cell type power, certainly not an internal combustion engine, the main propulsion for the car would be an electric motor...but wasn't there some reference to KITT being fueled by "liquid hydrogen" in the 80s, in that episode where KITT is racing other alternative propulsion vehicles?

Re: KITT'S NEW FEATURES
Who uses the term Quadraphonic anymore??
Darn.. that should have been the dead giveaway that the article was a joke.

What would MacGyver do? - Find out here.

Re: KITT'S NEW FEATURES
Hi all!
I read the PM article, too. And they did make a few boo-boos (which they had better address quick before the movie)
KITT had a laser restraint system, turbo boost, MBS, Super pursuit, super brakes. They say the new one has targeted EMP. Remember KITT's microjam? He brought a helicopter down from a few miles away. I'm certainly no expert on KITT (used to have the KITT Kit--I hope NBC does that again) so if I know this stuff, the new folks better know it. Both have pyroclastic protection (remember when they were in Central America and KITT went through the lava??) but does the new one have the MBS? It would be stupid to get rid of it for the nano-stealth thing. Morphing makes sense if they are using it for recon/stake outs ("Hey, youse punks! The Foundation has a King Cobra Shelby. Beat it if it comes in 5 miles of here.") Hard to do a stake out when they know what to look for. As for linking to stuff, KITT could do GPS, OnStar, email, video conferencing etc. The holography of the new car intrigues me. I post a lot at the GB Props site, and I made a new pack for the 21st century. Many over there stick with the old 1984 packs. They are great at prop building, but, it's the new century. New KITT, new GB tech. Makes sense to me. KITT was an AWESOME car, and they have their work cut out for them. As GB tech (an accelertor that you could wear on your back???) was above modern tech, same with Knight Foundation tech. It should be way above GPS (please --you can buy a Garmin at Walmart) more like the F-22 Raptor with integrated smart avionics and secure interlinks between base and operatives.

One thing it can't do...pump it's own gas. While 90% of it's electronics run on solar power, the other back up systems are purely gasoline based. Sorry, despite popular belief it's not really a hybrid.

Re: KITT'S NEW FEATURES
What, no turbo boost in the K3000? Hey, that was one of the things that made the original KR interesting. And, yes this article old KITT vs. new KITT is well misinformed. The original KITT had devices in it that is pretty much reality today. Like, GPS for example. For a car of the 80s it was well ahead of it's time. Not to mention a few other things. KITT had it's own version on On-Star. Do anyone remember the Goliath episode where KITT and Michael were in the desert and KITT said he couldn't contact FLAG because the collison with Goliath knocked that system out. The problem that the K3000 is it's having to outdo today's technology. It's basically needing to be 20 years ahead of it's time like the K2000 was. And, of course, it's boxy looks.
