Hi Everyone,
Sorry in advance if this has already been brought up. I wondered if there was any information in the KR writer's bible that he had any family living at all? Any thoughts?

He didn't. That is why initially, he was such a good candidate, he had no real connection to his former life. (It was only later that suddenly Stevie came into the picture.)

Didn't Michael mention that his father was dead? He was trying to empathise with somebody, I think.

Yes that was in the 3rd season episode Knight vs. Knerd when Ellie's father was murdered. When Michael was commenting on how it was ok to keep busy to try to keep it off your mind then He went on to that basketbal story.

Hi Everybody,
Ok, then if the show had lasted more seasons, if Michael had wanted his own family, would FLAG have made him choose? Would that have been an either/or situation? I know this would be a show changing plot, but it seems unfair when other people in high-risk professions can have families if they choose. What do you all think?

i dont know what would happen. i know that when michael married stevie, he left the foundation just to be with her. (plus he was "tired"

) but in any case, i think he would stay a part of the foundation but not be so heavy into it, perhaps getting someone else to go out and do kick bad guy butt.

I agree with KITT. He probably would have left in a limited fashion. (Though he had more than enough chance between Knight Rider and Knight Rider 2000) Ideally, he would have been a guide to the next generation.
(And by the way, all, my earlier response was to any LIVING family, as the post stated. They're all dead. Even in the Knight Rider Legacy, his background is listed that his father was dead, and his mother died from overworking.)

Hi Everybody,
Thank you all for the feedback on this topic. I think especially now, with the things going on in the world, family is of utmost importance to all of us.

Well, on Knight Rider, Michael had something that was just as heart warming and important as blood relatives: he had his working family. (Bonnie, Devon and KITT.)

Hi, KI
That's exactly right. I still wonder why (in the show) Bonnie left FLAG in the first place? Too much unresolved tension between her and Michael, maybe? Possibilities....possibilities.

In the show, she left to continue her education, and do her post graduate work in San Francisco, probably after deciding that she needed a break from Michael's slightly depressing attitude after Stevie went into the Witness Protection Program.

Hi,
I thought maybe a romance had happened (off screen).

Definitely not, that is one of the things that the producers went out of their way to make sure didn't happen, on or off screen. Michael and Bonnie were never meant to be together, because they thought it would make it 'too adult'

Does anyone else think that the development of Michael and Bonnie's relationship from season one to three was very natural? The flirting and rebuffing of season one could be viewed as Michael not looking beyond appearances in trying to get to know Bonnie, and Bonnie judging Michael on his (continuing) track record with women. When Bonnie returned in season three, Michael realised how much he missed her, and how valuable she was as a member of the team, and as a friend. In a way, they started again, but on a deeper level of friendship, because they were no longer unsure about each other.
Not meaning to waffle, but the characterisation was very subtle in parts, and impressed me.

I personally thought it was very well done.
Poor Patricia McPherson, however, because she wanted to play a little more. *chuckles*

Hi knightimmortal, I hope you recieved my apology in the board discussion thread, and I'm still welcome here. :)
Yeah, I wish Patricia hadn't been gone for Season 2, Bonnie was a better character than the replacement.
