Here's a bunch of info on the 82 Trans Am model and special editions. Not sure if the designer's name is in here or not, but a good read nonetheless. (the part about the frame's aerodynamics with the drag coefficient is pretty cool!)

Heaven, where all QC only has to be run once.

Any chance you could make that report available on-line?KITTfan wrote: I have the first testdrive report (driven in Laguna Seca btw) of '82 Firebird Trans-Am from finnish car magazine from 1982 and the article says the leader of the design team was John Schinella.

Oh, and an English translation would be most appreciated!

Re: Idea for the Perfect New KITT!
Dude, that's a 1970 Dodge Daytona! I thought you said "NEW" KITT! Why replace the '82 TransAm with a 70's Daytona? It's 'Knight Rider' not 'Dukes Of Hazzard'!FuzzieDice wrote:I think I have a good idea for a perfect "New" KITT:
And now for the body. Envision this in all black, with the thing below the lettering being the red scanner, and the nose piece fitted better to the car body, of course, so it's seamless:

I was messing around in Paint Shop Pro X since I had it open for some stuff.
I dunno... maybe my idea wasn't all that great after all. But this is the best I could do....
KITT:
KARR:
(Yeah, I had to try it. LOL!)
KARR does look a bit beat up. I couldn't get the bottom nose any better, unfortunately.
Maybe he came back... reassembled!

It's interesting that you mention that. I've been hearing off the wire for a while now that there is definite talk of Pontiac bringing the Trans Am back. Now, I have no idea how this word got around, but that's what I've been reading. So, who knows...TurbomanKnight wrote:First one is a Celica. Any Celica after 1985 sucks. (Yeah, I like RWD.)
Second one, 70 Daytona Charger. (Bad Ass Car)
In Conclusion, the ultimate KITT will be a Corvette. T/A's arent in production so that wont work out. I think the Corvette has perfect lines for a KITT car.

Fingers crossed ...

It should have pop-up headlights though, to differentiate it from the Camaro (if it's built on the same platform).

Just a not towards the one with three fog lights, I think the scanner should also be further down and that existing gap should be filled up like this:
However I do think that a newer KITT wouldnt have the same 3 fog lights like back in the 80's. He would only need one on each side like the original pic but they'd be super high powered, but tinted when not in use so they cant be seen
