progress:
I'm trying to make my own 3D computer models of KITT and want to make them as accurate as possible. But I need more reference. Specifically, I NEED overhead shots of KITT. I also could use a profile shot of the front bumper. Anybody know what episodes are best? I've got the three seasons on DVD ...

Oh and just to show you *something* here's a WIP of the diagrams I'll be using to generate my models. They're obviously not finished, and not tweaked to perfection, but they're close.

I had a stab at making a 3D KITT but was kinda limited by not having exact measurements (so I had to guestimate everything) and having to get by with looking at screen grabs from the DVD boxsets.
I should have some overhead images somewhere so I'll go dig for them and stick them online. Not sure when but hopefully by the end of the week (Sunday by the very latest).
Depends if you can wait that long
PS the drawings are cool. I always
did have difficulty with the front shot of KITT.

I ended up piecing the side and the top together somewhat ... not sure if it looks quite right, but I think the reduction to 2 dimensions can have that effect. I'm going to draw a diagram for the rear ('cause I've got some great reference) and then start modelling.

It's Max 8...
The polygon count is quite high.. the rendering plug in that I use creates the outline "vector" drawings...

The more I see your model, the more impressed I am. Well done. Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated. I'm having a heck of a time with those subtle curves ...

I've been using Max 7 but seem to have real difficulty in getting the right materials to apply to the car (the black paint and the glass) so all I can manage is this:
clicky and
clicky 2
Any advice you can offer?

I haven't messed with it yet, but you'll want to use several material attributes - For the paint: one attribute that has a sort of soft light look to it and one that has the hard highlights. for the glass, you can set transparency with highlights. That's likely what I'll do. Just mess with it

Also, you should use actual lights and not the automatic lighting generated by max.

ReddawgKnight - thanks for the images. It looks pretty awesome. I wish I could mod the Davilex game with my model, but I think my ultimate poly count will be way too high. Wish I knew enough to at least try it.

Simple my buddy modeled it for me after pesturing him about it for over a year....the game mode kitt....well you simply have to have the model finished before it goes into any games, yes that is GTA San Andreas The First Edition for PC only.
My car is about 20 or 30,000 pollies i think...im not really sure but any thing up to 100,000 pollies or triangles can be put into gta games.

My goal is to make a photo-realistic model of KITT, both inside and out. I'll model both season one and three dashes and do KARR and SPM. It doesn't look like much yet, but it will, it will.

I decided to remodel the nose. The geometry is HARD to model accurately. But I'm making progress. This is WITHOUT any meshsmooth (is proud).

hey george is there any chance that you would like your kitt to be converted to San Andreas when its 100% completed?
