For the past decades starting from 2002,there have been rumors of a Knight Rider Feature Film being in development from deals with Revolution Studios to now The Weinstein Company who acquired the rights to the famous 80's cult Knight Rider from its series creator the late and great Glen A Larson in 2006.
The current status of the project is a bit up in the air. In the Summer of 2006 - A video of Glen Larson was broadcast to a Knight Rider event in the UK, produced by Nick Nugent author of The Knight Rider Companion.
Now since The Weinstein Company hired screenwriter Brad Copeland and recent reports of actors Chris Pratt and Danny McBride being in talks for roles,we now might possibly know what genre The Weinstein Company is aiming for,they're going with a action/comedy which would be in vein to the Hollywood film 21 Jump Street. This means Knight Rider is now being imagined as a action/comedy hybrid to what the original concept of the 80's series actually was about. An exact release date has not been decided upon yet because the first draft script has been completed yet and production hasn't started. So we're going to have to wait and see if the long awaited Knight Rider Feature Film is finally in cinemas
The actual production plans aren't known as of yet due to the recent passing of creator Glen A Larson.
