NBC reduces Knight Rider season by five

season_reduced.jpgSad news has just come from NBC with an annoucement discussing their post superbowl schedule. Amongst the line items was this tidbit:

8-9 p.m. -- "Knight Rider" (season finale February 25; new show beginning March 4 to be announced soon)

This means that if Knight Rider was to air every week once it comes back on December 31st, they would only get to airing 17 episodes. Originally scheduled for 13 to air, they recently received a full season order bring the total to 22.

We're hearing now that they are currently shooting episode 17, which is written and directed by series showrunner Gary Scott Thompson. Filming is expected to be completed next Friday.

As for the scripts for the remaining five episodes, we've been told that they will be held for season two, if that were to happen. Right now it looks like the future of Knight Rider is soley in the viewers hands. It would require a significant turn in the ratings to sway NBCs minds. Unfortunately, ratings wise, Knight Rider never found it's audience and many (+2 million) never returned after it was forced to skip a week for a political event.

Our best to the Cast and the Crew of the series.

Small bi we ask NBC to take on other episodes.I is unable to contact them so please someone help.

We've just had Episode 12 in Australia, and of course I head online to find out about the rest of the season and what to expect in Season 2 and I find out that it's been cancelled. Hubby and I are very disappointed. We do not watch much tv, but this was one show that we watched every week. I'll be buying the dvds when they are released but I would dearly love to see another network pick it up if possible. This is a great series.

The new knight rider is fantastic i watch it in UK and NBC should make a second series now that the deadwood FBI characters have gone !

dont be a fool NBC do it you wont regret it!

  • Kev Barnett

Agree. I have just watched Episode 13 on Apple TV - incredible episode. Just amazing. The FBI stuff was holding it back - now the fun begins. The special effects too are fantastic. And the chemistry between KITT and Mike is now building nicely. Don't let it end here - PLEASE!

  • fahim

I totally agree with you. do you know when the petition to bring back knight rider is going to be sent to those bling idiots at NBC to bring back knight rider. we better send it of quickly before it too late. and have you signed the petition yet.

  • Kevin

I thaught it was odd they stopped at 17...

They must continue with KR2008... it's just starting to get interesting now that the knight industries is without the political BS...

They must do more series... and they must do more with kitt too...

KR2000 saw kits weakness... WATER... i think they need to make kitt conquer water...

Also, why does kitt need a 'program' in order to transform? why can't he see and mimic autonomously?

  • sammie and curtis

i really think that you should make a season 2 for knight rider we love this show. we also love kitt and we want to watch more so please make a season 2.

I was fortunate enough to be able to watch the original Knight Rider and loved it. I love the new version of it as well as my children do. We have family TV nights and that is one of the shows we watched as a family. My kids were disappointed to find out that it is not on anymore and that there is a chance it may not be back for another season. Please bring it back!!!!!

  • Jason

Knight Rider was by far the best show to air in a long time. what is NBC thinking.

  • ANIL

HEY MAN ITS NOT FAIR TO CANCEL KNIGHT RIDER. I DON'T KNOW HOW U PEOPLE JUDGE KNIGHT RIDER BUT LET ME TELL YOU ALMOST EVERY BODY I KNOW IN MY LIFE THEY WATCH KNIGHT RIDER AND ITS THERE FAVOURITE TV SHOW ON NBC. IF YOU GUYS WANT TO CANCEL IT THINK AGAIN AND TRY TO CHECK UR TRP RATE ONCE AGAIN.

  • Nick from germany

    Hi,

ok - i liked the 80s series of Knight Rider. But to watch it nowadays is pretty boring. But the new series has blown me away. I don't watch that much TV (actual its two things I watch) - Eli Stone and Knight Rider. They cannot take one of my favorite shows off air. ... that's really lame ... I also liked the Bionic women... An they cancelled her also... I hope, they will do not make the same mistake twice!

Another fact is, that this show is so damn good - I watch it in germany!!!

  • Michael

Thats bull shit! NBC sucks anyway. Knight Rider is still alot better than anything else that airs... Ratings who gives a shit bout ratings... Knight Rider is the ONLY show i watch on NBC the rest are just dumb...
