Knight Rider receives new nighttime companions

When Knight Rider returns from its political break on November 5th, it will be without its follow up shows of "Deal or No Deal" and "Lipstick Jungle". NBC is shuffling the primetime schedule and has created a crime-centric focus on Wednesdays that can only help Knight Rider.

NBC is shuffling its primetime sked, creating a crime-centric Wednesday night lineup and exiling the struggling "Lipstick Jungle" to Fridays.

As part of the change, Peacock stalwart "Law & Order" is returning to the sked sooner than expected. "Law & Order" is back in a familiar spot for the show, Wednesdays at 10 p.m., beginning Nov. 5.

Also on the same night, the soph drama "Life" will move to its new Wednesday time slot, at 9 p.m., behind "Knight Rider," which stays put at 8 p.m.

"Lipstick," which is being bumped from Wednesday 10 p.m. berth by "Law & Order," will move to Friday nights, filling "Life's" old 10 p.m. slot beginning Oct. 31.

In a statement, NBC Entertainment/Universal Media Studios co-chairmen Ben Silverman and Marc Graboff said they hoped the shuffle would improve the Peacock's fortunes by turning its Wednesday lineup into "wall-to-wall satisfying mysteries."
