Knight Rider movie score?
Somebody needs to cut off my ears, because I'm starting to hear strange things.
There are 2 important pieces of music for the movie: The first would be the main theme music, probably played during the openning credits, which hopefully will be some sort of remix based on the original theme.
The rest of the music is the movie score, played during the chase scenes. Some recent movies (xXx for example) have been going towards the grunge/metal sound. Personally I prefer something a little more techno, with a syntho-driving beat. And so help me, I found a piece of music that kind of fits what I would use in the movie: the American Idol theme.
It sickens me to admit it. And I'm not saying the theme should be used as it. It's the STYLE of the music that I personally would like to see on the soundtrack CD.
It's hard to explain why someone likes or dislikes a piece of music. It's very subjective. The reason why I think the American Idol style fits is that it has a very strong beat, but hardly any melody. If you have music with too strong a melody, then the music can take over the scene. That's one reason I don't like the idea of using songs with lyrics in films. The American Idol music could support a fast-paced action sequence with a lot of quick edits, without dominating it.

Wonder what Mr. Cowell would make of K.I.T.T.'s singing efforts in "Knight Song." Or even Michael's with Class Action in "Let it Be Me"....

Don't think of it as bursting a moderator's bubble. Think of it as bursting a fellow member's bubble, which is fine by me.
Don Peake's score worked great in the 80s. But (sadly) it isn't the 80s anymore. I'm sure that Don isn't still composing the same style of music he did 20 years ago. Those synth riffs are a bit dated. Now if you want to bring Don Peake back into the studio and have him update his original score for the 21st century, I could get behind that.

I didn't mean to imply just you, Mike... it seemed like all the moderators jumped on the bandwagon. And although I do agree that it was chase worthy music, I still stand by my original comment.
As for the 80's stuff, I agree, it would be outdated, and I understand that Don Peake is probably not composing the same material now as he was before. However, I think I was misunderstood.
I intended to be heard as saying such: Don Peake should be brought back on board in any form, simply because his STYLE will be recognized by older fans and will give the KR community some continuity. Understanding that musicians evolve, just as mediums do, I would be curious to see what Don would have in store to tell the story in a 21st century fashion.
Hope I cleared up any confusion .

We were having fun. If that is considered as 'moderators jumping on the bandwagon' you are wound WAYYYYY too tight.
As for Don Peake....supposedly he is already on board from what they said at Knight Registries, so you can unwind your rubber band now.
I find it rather interesting that people give us crap about not having fun, and when we do, somebody comes along and darkens it. Shame.
In the words of Simon Cowell: Ghastly, purely ghastly.

I think the idea of using covers of 80s songs would be good. I was listening to a group called Bjorn Again, and they do a pretty upbeat, modern rendition of the Duran Duran classic 'girls on film.' It's 80s but not in a silly Austin Powers sort of way like the DD original would be perceived. Music like that would possibly appeal to all.
KITT project is on again!
