I just cant believe the brass this guy has. I know for a fact that he didnt create the delorean time machine (designed by andy probert, built by ron cobb, probert best known for designing the enterprise 'D' on TNG). The production designers of the flintstone movie did the cars in the flintstones, and sony pictures art department built the ECTOs. The stuff barris did was in the 60s you can tell by his signature look. I mean I AM a fan of the stuff HE did, but when he says he did stuff that he didnt that makes me very :x .

The Delorean was designed by Michael Scheffe, the same man who designed and built the original KITT pilot car.

All I know is what I was told directly by Glen Larson and Michael Scheffe. They both said that Scheffe designed the Delorean. Now, perhaps he was involved in some other aspect of the Delorean, but all I can go on is what I was told.

It seems like every single television/movie car is made by Barris or connected to him somehow, some way.

If you look at the Barris KITT you can also see its a manual. I hate the way there is cardboard over where the little red display is that seams to be common on those dashboards.

Manual Transmissions are the way to go. I just love how the Shifter looks with that interior.

Cardboard? Where do you see cardbaord. We don't recall using
cardboard anywhere on that dash?

..and yes, the car is a standard. Many of the stunt cars used in the series
were.

The DeLorean from Back to the Future was first designed by Ron Cobb. However,.. Cobb moved on to another project and Adrew Probert took it over.

The DeLorean was build by Kevin Pike and his company Filmtrix (for part 1). Michael Sheffe build the DeLoreans for part II and III.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The General Lee was build by different builder,.. but none of them was that Goddamn liar Barris.

The builder from the General Lee are;

Georgia era: Don Schlissler (and his crew from the H&H bodyshop)
Early Cali era: The Veluzat Bros.
Between Early and Late Cali era: Ken Fritz
Late Cali era: Rich Septon, Tom Sarmento and A.J. Trasher

The red stuff IS the number displays. They were digits that had a
red face on them. Due to time constaints, there wasn't time to put
a tinting over all the display sections.

ok. I always thought that some of those things just weren't put in because it was only a screen car. I guess not on the george barris one though.

Michael Sheffe build the DeLoreans for part II and III.
I always assumed that Scheffe designed the Delorean interior, not the actual design of the car itself. If you look at the instrument panels, they are actually quite K.I.T.T.-like -- LED readouts on the time circuits, a centre console, and an overhead, all curved around the driver/pilot. K.I.T.T.'s design is more sleek and curvy, the DeLorean's is more retro, but they are similar, and possibly the signature of the same creative mind.

I have to agree with my esteemed colleauge Mr CNH. After consulting the dvds and the commentaries and some of the forums at bttf.com he is correct. The delorean WAS a joint ventre of Cobb, Probert, Pike, and Sheffe. Barris had NOTHING to do with them. In fact he had a so called "film used" delorean at his business that he sold at an auction (ditto the jessica/nick SPM KITT), it had frigging silver clothes dryer flexible duct hoses (the ones that connect the dryer to an exhaust vent in the wall nearby) on the back of the car and the car had tons of other so called bits that were WAY off.
