Is KITT Equipped With Seatbelts
Throughout the entire Knight Rider series, I have noticed that we never see Michael using a seatbelt. In fact, I don't ever recall seeing KITT with any seatbelts, except maybe in the rear. Did the stock 82 Trans Ams have shoulder belts like the Fourth Generation Firebirds of today. In the pilot episode, we hear Devon telling Michael that KITT is the safest car ever designed. If that is the case, one would think they would have included shoulder belts as an additional safety feature. Of course back in the day, the seatbelt law was not heavily enforced as it is today.
I don't need no "Wizard Of Oz Car" putting me behind the 8 ball, for nothing. LOL (The Rev)
All they did was blow away a "Ringmaster", they didn't even steal any hamburgers. LOL (Michael)

The 82 Trans Am indeed have stock sholder belts installed. In the first season they did not introduce the Passive Laser Restraint System yet. I think it was until the third season where it was introduced.

Re: Is KITT Equipped With Seatbelts
K.I.T.T. only had seatbelts in the pilot episode, "Knight Of the Phoenix." I think the seatbelts were removed at the end of this episode after KITT was being towed back to the Foundation for repairs and upgrades. After that, for the first two seasons, I suppose the Foundation figured that seatbelts weren't really necessary if the Knight 2000 couldn't accidentally hit obstacles.KNIGHT RAIDER wrote:Throughout the entire Knight Rider series, I have noticed that we never see Michael using a seatbelt. By Season 3, however, KITT received the Passive Laser Restraint System. This was a series of harmless invisible lasers emitted from the dashboard to hold the Knight 2000's occupants in place. By Season 4, it was more necessary than ever with the new integration of Super Pursuit Mode. As in real-life, the laws might have gotten more strict even in the series, and Bonnie probably took that into account when she designed the PLRS.

As a matter of fact, you can notice Michael putting on the seatbelt in Knight Of The Poneix and The Final Verdict!
Michael: Kitt what matters to me is who you are not what you look like. Sure we don't have the car so we can't turbo boost so we can't go over 200 miles an hour but it was all icing on the cake anyway
