The timeline between the different versions of Knight Rider is a bit sketchy, and some aspects contradict one another. The timeline (in chronological order, not the order in which each production was made) is as follows:
● Knight Rider, officially August of 1982 to some point in 1990 (according to Knight Rider 2000).
● Team Knight Rider, officially some time from 1997-1998. I've never seen this series, but from what I have heard K.I.T.T. makes an appearance as some type of orb which contradicts him sitting in moth balls for a decade, according to KR2K.
● Knight Rider 2000, taking place February 19, 2000. Michael retires in 1990 to run a bass charter in Seattle, Washington, for 10 years. K.I.T.T. has since been dismantled and most of his parts and chips auctioned off to continue funding for the prototype Knight 4000. These facts contradict the facts stated in TKR, but these events do technically occur after that series.
● Knight Rider (backdoor pilot)/Knight Rider:The Series, taking place from February 17, 2008 - March 4, 2009. The Knight 3000 is completed (no mention as to why a "3000" model came after a "4000" model). Mike Traceur is the son of Michael Knight, who in the backdoor pilot has a driver's license that reveals his birthdate of June 10, 1983. This marks his conception date at approximately October 10, 1982. We learn Michael Knight fathered him with a mysterious woman named Jennifer, who never has a mention in the original series. However, some missions had passed between the original series pilot episode and the first official episode, "Deadly Maneuvers," which aired in October of '82. So it's quite possible that Michael fathered Mike off-camera before his mission in "Deadly Maneuvers." Apparently Michael's job was too dangerous for a real relationship and Jennifer was placed in hiding not to be heard from until the new series. Also, the character of Dr. Charles Graiman is revealed to be a behind-the-scenes top engineer of the original K.I.T.T., operating and also placed in hiding under Wilton Knight's orders.
● Knight Rider 2010, taking place in 2010. I've also never seen this film, but from what I understand it is set in an apocalyptic future, which technically happens after KR: The Series (meaning something serious must have gone down at some point in 2009!). It also apparently has no mention of any characters from previous incarnations and its only similarities with the faranchise is a driver and a talking car. However, technically nothing here contradicts any previously established canon.
