Windshield Display

Post by sandmanz613 » Thu Oct 23, 2008 12:10 pm

First I am happy to see that there is more "play" between KITT and Michael in the last episode...Knight of the Hunter. I did have a interesting question about the windshield display. I can only imagine that the windshield display is highly distracting to Michael when he is driving! How can anyone see through it to concentrate on the road. I understand using it while KITT is driving but in this last episode Michael was clearly driving while focusing on the display.

What do you think?

Im pretty sure that whilst Mike is driving, Ki3t would never allow the car to get out of control so if Mike were distracted Kitt would intervene....

While I'm not a fan of the windshield display and have been campaigning for physical dashboard buttons all along, it did occur to me that there's one practical use for it. When K.I.T.T. is in 4x4 mode or morphing into any other vehicle, we don't have to see an F-150 or a police car have a high-tech dashboard. K.I.T.T. can maintain his disguises better with the virtual dash.

My assumption all along has been that if Mike is manipulating the HUD and focusing on it, KITT takes over most driving functions.

Yeah the whole who's driving during the HUD thing is something that's been bugging me for awhile. Hopefully that will be addressed in the show. Remember during the pilot when, during a high speed chase mind you, a bunch of displays popped up and Mike was looking at them more then the road.

And if Kitt is driving during that wouldn't it be better to take your hands off the wheel and then put them back on when you're ready to drive again? But, that's just me.
