Michael Knight

Post by epc1122 » Sat Jul 26, 2008 3:18 pm

wasn't sure if there was a thread about this, but what is everyone's thoughts on traceur becoming the new michael knight and how you think they'll make the change. originally, michael long had his entire past erased and had a new beginning with michael knight. now that its 20 years later, will they erase the original michael knight as if he never existed, but will be known about within the knight industries, or will they keep his records. when batman beyond happened, everyone wondered what happened to the original batman and if the new one is connected to the original. well, i just wonder what everyone's thoughts on this topic was. if there is another thread, feel free to delete.

I reckon "Michael Knight" will be used as an alias now... to keep Mike Traceur's identity out of trouble.

That's possible or he could simply have just taken the name of his father and be MK junior.

GST has said that he has strong love for the original and Michael Long being shot in the face, and not being able to go back to his old life. Something similar will be revealed in the first episode that prevents Mike Tracer from being in order to protect the foundation and the people he cares about Not being shot in the face, which would be silly since the actor isn't changing, but something related his time in Iraq

Does Mike Tracer's name changing to Michael Knight have effect on Hasselhoff's Michael Knight, is his character going back to Michael Long or is he staying also as a Michael Knight? Just wondering in case he will return to an episode... hopefully with original KITT ;)

There's no reason for the original Michael Knight to lose his name, I don't think it's even an issue to consider wondering about.
I'm betting on Mike killed "killed" in Iraq, though that might piss off a few people who will call it "trivializing". >_>

Imagine the potential confusion ... if eventually we have an episode, with two characters with
the name "Michael Knight", and two talking supercars that both answer to the name "KITT" ... !

That's absolute rubbish FX, and you know it.

As much as we older fans love Michael and KITT, the time for David Hasselhoff and William Daniels reprising their roles as the stars of the series came and went a long time ago when the network blew their chance to do a Perry Mason, and continue the series in TV movie form when they butchered the Knight Rider 2000 script that the Hoff had signed on for, and turned it into what most of have come to loath.

Matt
Welcome aboard the Knight 2000.

Thank you. What's all this, it looks like Darth Vader's bathroom?

David wants to show we want him in the show so i think we have a good case for killing off this imposter tracer and his *?$# car in the first few episodes! Imagine the ratings when the real mike and kitt return 'i want revenge for the death of my son, cmon kitt weve got work to do!'

Dont be stupid, theres no way that will happen. Hasselhoffs gettin a bit on now + K2000 is 25 years old, whilst Id love to see them show up in and episode or two, there is no way they could carry the series and I wouldnt want to see it happen. Whats wrong with change? This new show could be a great success and update the story for a new generation. I for one am excited to find out what this show has to offer, good scripts/new gadgets/more action/homages to TOS, basically MORE KNIGHT RIDER. If it turns out to be rubbish it wont affect fans of TOS after all weve still got our DVDs.

FX23 ... what you are clearly failing to realise is that the original Knight Rider ended 22
years ago. There realistically is no way a new series of Knight Rider could work in 2008
and beyond with DH who's now in his mid-50's, playing the all-action main (human)
character, and with William Daniels, who's now in his early 80's, voicing the car.

The only way the Hoff could reprise his role full-time, would be if Michael Knight had
at some point since KR-TOS ended, been promoted as CEO of the Knight Foundation.

It seems likely that the original Michael and KITT may make at least one appearance in
the new series at some point, but stop expecting it to be a regular thing, or the new
team will be overshadowed, potential new KR fans will be alienated, ratings could
drop, and NBC could axe the show before it's even had a fighting chance.

Be thankful we're getting any new Knight Rider at all.

I sure as hell wouldn't want to see Hasselhoff continuing to do what he did over 20 years ago, he'd old enough to be a grand father (or great grand father is you have a mess up family, heh) now and there's no way it'd do anything to attract a new audience, which the show sorely would need. That would suck for the character as well since it seems like after all this time Michael Knight would have moved on to do something else, within Knight Industries if anything. Hell, maybe he became a life guard in the early 90s. <_< >_>

Do you realize how expensive that is to do without looking like crap? That's money that could be used elsewhere for more important things, things that would actually make sense.

The original duo of Michael Knight and the Knight Industries 2000 were the most important
aspects of the original Knight Rider series in the 1980's, (and also the 1991 sequel) ... but
in the new Knight Rider series, the two most important aspects the spotlight will be on
are Michael Knight Jnr (aka Mike Traceur) and the Knight Industries 3000.

Focus on what's to come, and don't dwell on the past.

Good lord,

Mike Traceur is the son of Michael Knight, and that's how the show can still be called Knight Rider, because with or without the name change, Michael's son is carrying on the mission that Michael began in 1982. :good:

Well said Matt. Simple, yet effective in the storyline. That is the bottom line here, and that IS the direction the show is going. :good:
