Who drives the Knight Rider truck??

My boyfriend and I are wondering this and hope someone can help us out: does anyone know how KITT's mobile garage-truck gets about the place? Is it like a giant version of KITT which drives itself, or is there some shadowy driver figure whom nobody talks to very much??

(We are only mid-way through the first season at the moment, so apologies if this is resolved in some episode we haven't got to yet!)

I think that there is a person that drives the truck they just are never seen or mentioned

It's typically a random Foundation employee throughout seasons 1-3 and most of the fourth season. R.C.3 occasionally drives it in the fourth season. The semi also is indeed capable of driving itself, however it's a strict Foundation rule that there must be a driver behind the wheel at all times.

Yes, it can. I remember an episode where RC is in the cab of the truck watch something on TV ( I think a sports game ) with his hands behind his head. You can also see the steering wheel moving back and forth.

So what kind of auto pilot did the semi have? I don't have a clue as it was never talked about on the show.

I saw a guy on "Ice Road Truckers" get up and mess with a cooler in the sleeper cab of his semi while it was driving on the highway, but I don't think that was auto pilot... just a long, straight road and a very trusting driver.

Well, we are mainly talking about the F.L.A.G. semi.

The only episode I can recall where it shows the F.L.A.G. Semi driving itself is in The Wrong Crowd which is the episode (season four) Stargazer was referring to with RC3 watching the game and communicating with Michael. Other then that I believe you usually saw some sort of unidentified figure driving it.

In "Burial Ground", Devon tells RC to get back to the wheel of the semi as Devon is uncomfortable with the semi rolling down the highway driverless. So, I think it's safe to say that in Season 4, RC was the semi's main driver.

I remember reading in one of the Knight Rider novels that Bonnie was supposed to be the semi's driver...but of course, we never saw that on screen.

I barely saw the episode of "Burial Ground" this weekend. It does seem like the truck would have some sort of auto pilot on it considering that RC3 was helping to work on KITT's suspension system. He really couldn't be in two places at once. Driving the truck and working on KITT. And after Devon made that comment he hightailed it back to the front of the truck. I think it was assumed that Bonnie must've driven that truck in the earlier first season of KR because, if I remember right they at first had the truck parked on the side on the road.

Yeah it's not like FLAG doesn't know HOW to make an auto-pilot. It's probably just the same feature KITT has without the AI.
