New Scanner - What do you think ? Do you have any Questions?

Post by Auto Indulgence » Sat Feb 23, 2008 12:16 pm

Hello Gentlemen,

I wanted to stop by and say hello to your forum. I'm very interested in what you thought of the new light scanner? We will be making the light in a consumer version and will have red & amber available for now. We want your input on the new scanner, as we will also be adding extra features that haven't been used in the show yet.
We are also going to have the hood available with the light built into it or without. The bumper & carbon Fiber piece is also in the works... The lights will be available in 2 months

Thanks,
Pierre

Hey Pierre, thanks so much for stopping by! Welcome to Knight Rider Online!

I'm curious what you mean by extra features? I noticed when I saw the car in person in Manhattan - that it had a few different modes besides side to side?

I thought the new light looked great - excellent work! The one thing that urked me a little - but was more the editors fault, was that sometimes the scanner seemed to never move. The light would be on the outside of the car, they would cut to the actors and then back to the wide shot, and the light still seemed on the outside of the car. Even with such a surface area, it seemed like a bit much, but again - thats out of your hands?

Also, is the speed controlled variably? Alot of time in the original series, the scanner would go faster as KITTs speed increased (most likely from them having to speed up the film) but it gave the appearance that the car was moving faster. In the movie we saw, the speed seemed consistent, is thing something that can be controlled?

Anywho, thanks again for visiting - I hope you spend some time visiting with all replica communities, I'm sure they would have lots of technical questions for you!

I personally think that the new Scanner is AMAZING, though I agree quite a bit with Neil that a few different modes and a way to adjust the speed of the Scanner would be good too. A different Scanner mode for the Normal Mode and the Attack Mode would be welcome, as far as I remember -- correct me if I'm wrong -- the Trans-Am KITT had a different Scanner mode for the Normal Mode and the Pursuit Mode.

Would it be so hard to put the scanner on the front of the car? It would look so much better. I think it looks lame on top of the hood.

 You just want the Trans-Am back despite the fact that this KITT isn't the same KITT as the original as indicated in other posts. It's fine where it is.
The new and again improved evil's advertisement is currently too long and too badass to display here. But let's just say that with now 50% more evil, this **** is great! :skar:

It'll take some getting used to, but I like it. ^^ Someone in an earlier thread said it looked very 'organic', and that opint sticks with me. (I dunno why...) My only real qualm is that its split down the middle. :\

By "side to side" do you mean like classic K.I.T.T.? Is this a mode they decided to not feature in the movie because it was too similar to the old scanner?

There is one single shot where the scanner speed is inconsistent with the rest of the entire movie. It's during the chase sequence on the winding mountain road. The shot lasts only for about a second, but it's enough to see that that particular shot was clearly sped up because the scanner speed was much quicker than any other shot in the movie.

i liked the scanner a lot. it's organic look is very distinctive and sets it apart from the Knight 2000's scanner, which is a good thing IMHO.
especially the night shots in the movie were awesome, the darkness emphasises the effect particularly well.
the only setback for me is that sometimes it just looked like the lights were always on and not moving at all. that's because when the lights go on from one side to the other they don't go off until the lights have reached the other side.
a shorter lighting up period might look better... so this might be an option for an additional programming.
